Hi,

I have a 2021 PowerBoost with a noise coming from the brake pedal at slow speeds. It sounds like pressure being released from the booster in small bursts. See video. It started around 1200 miles - I know it wasn't doing it before then because it's very noticeable. It does it worse when cold and almost goes away when its warmer - maybe 70 degrees outside. Took it to the dealer and they hear it, but they're telling me it's normal for the PowerBoost. That's a generic favorite response for dealers of course and while it could be true, it's just so annoying that I have to question it.

Anyone else with a Powerboost have this same noise? It happens when I vary the brake pedal pressure coming up to stops. Doesn't do it under harder braking.

Thanks!

I have same noise when cold out 15 degrees or less. When really cold sometimes i also hear a slight squeak too. No noise when outside temp is warmer and I don’t always hear it when colder. Took a good look when I first heard it. Checked break fluid and it good. No visible leaks or damage. Doesn’t seem to have any effect on breaking but I’ll mention it to dealer on next visit. At this point I’m not concerned but I did read about a small amount of 21 master cylinders being recalled. Not sure what the master on a non hybrid looks like but the hybrid looks like an expensive part more complex than anything I have seen before on my past trucks.

I’ll pay a bit of extra attention to mine today, but I think that’s normal. Is the microphone making it more pronounced than it is in person? I think that sound is there in mine, but it’s very faint

Thanks for the replies. I guess it's good to know it's not just mine but I'm not certain how good that really is... The mic on my phone didn't exaggerate the sound at all. It's that loud in reality. I actually didn't take the truck in just for this. It was there for a much more serious problem which I just now posted. I was waiting on a final answer from the dealer before posting that and I just got it. Check it out if you're curious.

I agree that the noise doesn't seem to have any relation to actual braking performance. I thought I was feeling an inconsistent boost level at slower speeds now and then but it's probably just the transition from regen braking combined with downshifting or something. Certainly nothing dangerous. This is just annoying more than anything.

I noticed this start one day, maybe around about 4k miles. Kind of gotten used to it, but some days it does seem louder. Curious if Ford comes back with anything.

Same here - it varies day to day.

Well, I was initially very impressed that Ford contacted me on this thread and the guy I dealt with over PM was great. But the specialist that got hold of me later is a let down so far. They emailed saying they had tried to call me but hadn't, which isn't a big deal. They also said that they contacted the dealer and was told that the vehicle was operational and implied there's nothing more to be done. Funny (or sad) thing is that they claimed the service writer they talked to was me. I replied asking if that was a typo and to confirm the service writer's name. I also restated the issues in detail and provided links to the two threads I have. That was last Thursday and no reply so far.

I have the same issue. Started around the same time as well. Doesn't do it stationary just while driving. I had two dealers say was normal.

Man, if this is actually common with the PB it's an unfortunate miss with the design. I've never driven a car that does this. It's still just an annoyance but we spent a lot of money on these things...

I got a call from Ford yesterday but I was on a work meeting. I called back and left a message but no call back yet. I'll post updates when I hear more.
