I’ve noticed a little extra noise during some startups on my ‘22 2.7l with 3,600 miles. Just looking for some reassurance that this doesn’t sound like early cam phaser issues.

I remember reading a post that the wastegates are a little loose until the engine heats up, hence that rattling noise. My engine does the same on startup.

Sounds pretty normal to me. I’ve got the exhaust rattles on cold start, there’s lots of threads on here about it.

Does it sound like this? This OP and myself both had to have our phases replaced on our our 2021+ trucks. Thankfully it seems that phaser issues are rare on the Gen 2 2.7s, but there is a TSB and updated phasers for some 2021+ trucks that I shared in that thread.

EDIT: listened to yours and it sounds more like the wastegates. The phasers are a lot louder and higher up on the motor, up top at the ends of the cams rather than lower by the wheel wells and the turbos.

I’ve seen that post before and it definitely doesn’t sound like that. I’m assuming the noise I hear for a second or two is because the oil hasn’t circulated yet. Thanks for reviewing and commenting.

My 2.7 sounds the same as this video. Thought it was odd, but a quick search tells me its normal, so no wasted time at the dealer for me!
