Installed the Ford mud guards, which look really nice, but when we got on the interstate running 70mph... those were the noisiest guards we've ever heard. The front kept making a popping noise every few minutes. If we slowed down to 55-60... no issue, but I guess that much pressure against them was causing them buckle and make a popping noise at the higher speeds. I suppose we'll get the Gatorbacks like we had on our Ram... flexible and much heavier/thicker/robust, although a LOT more expensive as well.

I have had mine for a year without such noise even in the mid 80's. Is it the rears? There is a rigid metal bar to support them. Might check to see if that has come loose as that could cause flex.

You gotta attach them to the fenders Sonnie; not to the tires....;). Anyway, I have had the ford ones on my last 2 trucks and never had any noise issues (and I'm picky about noise). I do have retractable running boards though, not sure if yours are fixed or not (just thinking of possible turbulence).

****also wonder if your active air dam could be popping after lowering and then going away when you slow down?

I've had mine for close to a year and no noise like what you described. Maybe you got a defective set??

That is the only change made and I've never heard the noise before they were added. I installed them right before we left for Tampa. I checked them at the rest stop and they were all attached properly and nothing was loose.

Retractable boards... Platinum model.

I'm going to be test driving the same model tomorrow and will be on the interstate again. Mine had transmission issues, so they are going to allow me to drive the same model over the weekend to test it and make sure it has no tranny issues. If okay, they are swapping vehicles for me. It will not have mud guards, so I will see if I hear anything with it vs mine with the guards on the way to the dealers once I hit the interstate. 30+ miles of interstate to test both of them.

I bought the splash guards and wheel well liners inside the first few months of delivery (2-13-21).

no noise whatsoever, no flapping—nada
This truck sees little city type traffic at all and is normally rolling along between 70 & 80mph.

The front ones do what I wanted them to do.
Keep crap from building up on the step boards.

Without them, I was getting piles of crap right at the area I use to step into the truck. With them, the boards stay pretty clean

I bought mine specifically to avoid ice build up between the body of the truck and the fixed running boards. 2nd winter and doing their job!

Yeah, I live on a dirt/gravel road. I tried it without flaps for a month. No way. Rocks flying like crazy every time you pull out on the highway and the boards stayed covered in dirt/sand...especially after a rain.
