Hi All!
I really disliked the 20" wheels that came with the blackout package on my '25 PB, so I went ahead and got 18's:
- Method 305, 18x9, 18mm offset, doubleblack
- Nitto Terra Grappler, 275/70-18, SL load rated (116T)

No level (yet), and per my calculations, I lost 5lbs per corner (80.6lbs now vs 85.8 with the OEM setup).
Waiting to see how my mpgs are going to be affected!

Please report back! I've seen various opinions on this, but with rotational mass closer to axle and lighter total weight it must have some affect. Whether it's measurable in a real world situation is another question.

when I went from 20's to 18's, I lost some weight too. But went back to 20's again LOL

Just my guess, but I suspect that you won't see any mpg gain from the 5lb per corner loss. I believe that rolling resistance is a significant factor in mpg. Even though you're going to Terra Grappler instead of Recon or Ridge, I bet Ford's choice of OEM tires is influenced by rolling resistance to help achieve the mpg targets, and almost anything AT will have higher rolling resistance than OEM.

IMO: Although rolling resistance does play into the equation of MPG, I think the biggest factor by far is the rotational mass. Turning a much heavier tire puts a lot more load on your truck. There should be rolling resistance specs that can be looked up on the tires to compare. I think you will see a small improvement in MPG with losing 5 pounds per corner, that’s a decent drop. 20 pounds total reduced unsprung weight.

I will report back.
One issue with the comparison is that the weather here just recently started to turn colder. Which in itself means some mpg loss. So I don't have solid numbers to compare to, but I will see. The truck has less than 2k miles on the odo currently.

I would expect the weight of the tires to play a more significant role in city driving, where you spin the wheels up and slow them down. And I think rolling resistance will show up more during constant fast highway driving.

There's also the wind resistance factor if tires aren't tucked inside the fender anymore. I went the opposite direction with weight and offset and definitely lost around 4mpg.

That’s another valid variable in the equation.

Nice truck! Just me, I don’t give a flying fack about mpg’s, it’s all about does it grip and go when I need it. Respect everyone’s values but it’s a truck not an economy vehicle, I bought a truck to do truck stuff which is normally not fuel efficient, that’s why my wife has an Explorer. Just my opinion and I respect yours. My truck looks good, grips and rips, mission accomplished. 😊👍

My wheels and tire weigh 125 lbs each corner. 22 x 12 wheel. Truck gets 16 mpg. Your truck looks good!

Nice choice on tires! I went with the black Ford Performance Tremor wheels myself. I originally had 305/45r22's and dropped down to the 18s. No front level for me, pulled rear blocks.

I noticed no actual difference in mileage and I was around a 10lb drop per corner. I bet like others have said it's all about rolling resistance. Had Defender LTX M/S2s on the 22' wheels.
