Hello all. I have a 2023 F150 Lariat SC FX4. I am in need of some advice. I brought my truck to the local dealer for some issues (transfer case seal leak, low battery and for a noisy front differential.) Two issues have been repaired however the front differential is still humming. Had a tech ride with me and verify the noise when I first brought the truck in. Originally I thought the wheel bearings were going bad or my hubs were sticking. The noise is still there whether I am in 2H, 4H or 4A. Long story short, the tech rotated my tires and "ran the truck on the lift and the noise decreased slightly." My question is how can they be sure the noise decreased slightly while the truck was not under a load? Would they be able to attach some chassis ears and try and pinpoint where the humming is coming from? The service advisor said the humming noise was coming from the tires however they did a check on my tires and found no abnormalities. Are Hankooks known for humming? The truck didn't make that noise before hitting 21k miles. I attached the work order. What should I do next? Sounds like I need to make sure my life insurance is paid up. Hahaha. My apologies for the long rant and thank you all in advance for your help.

Are the wheels balanced? How was the wheel rotation done? Have you looked at the front brakes for sticking? I think somewhere in the forum there was a thread similar to this and the problem was either the pads or calipers. See if you can record the noise and post it here.

Thank you for your reply. Tires I assume were rotated from front to back. As far as balancing goes I haven't done so. Didn't feel the need to because the tires only have 21k miles on them and the tech at the dealer found no abnormalities with my them. I will look into if the calipers are sticking. Thank you

On 4x4 trucks, proper wheel rotation is back to front and fronts crossed to back. It doesn't hurt to see if tires are balanced or not. Good luck!

FWIW, 2024 lariats don't have locking hubs. The front axle is always live so you can't have a 'locking hub' issue as the truck doesn't have them. Did they try putting it on stands and put it in gear, 4WD, rear end locked and try and spin it to isolate the location or if it's tire related? I know that's not in the service manual for diagnostics but it sure makes isolation easier.

Dealer had said they ran it on the lift and the noise slightly decreased. Not sure if they ran it on 4wd
