I have a 2021 lariat 5.0. 155,xxx miles on the truck. At around 145,000 the truck started smoking out of the exhaust pretty significantly after sitting idle. Doesn’t do it unless I sit idle for about 5 mins or longer. Smoke is blue. Usually about a quart low after 2,000 miles. No leaks and I understand that the 5.0 has an oil consumption problem. But I don’t think it should be smoking like it is. I sat idle for 30 mins one time while on the phone and when I started down the road it looked like I had I smoke grenade in my tail pipe for about 200 yards. Any answers would help. Dealer just says to keep adding oil.

I’d be looking at the PCV valve, sounds like that truck is an absolute disaster between the stuck transmission in your other thread and this. I’m guessing you bought it used and it was trashed by the previous owner?

If they beat on it hard enough to completely trash the transmission by 150,000 miles I wouldn’t be surprised if the oil was never changed…which will means lots of internal engine wear.

I did buy the truck used from ford. It was a lease truck to a admin of a construction company. (Which I know people usually don’t take care of leased vehicles). Documentation from ford showed it was regularly serviced at their dealership. But does have very high idle hours on it with strobe kit. So I assume it was sat in at idle quite a bit. Didn’t know to pay attention to idle hours at time of purchase. I will try a pcv valve and see if that helps the situation.
