The maps not loading is happening to several people. had a bad OTA install

Issue is the complete update is not installing. Mixing old files with new OS file causing the maps to not load and other issues. Some have no CarPlay.

I wasnt able to correct Mike Mion Remotely. We would get the install to start but it would never end and call for the restart.

Im guessing his apim could be fixed if I had it here.

If you get no maps and had the owner manual update not complete or fail youll more than likely have issues. More so for those going from 22193 straight to 23159. They pulled the Intermediate updates and are going straight to 23159. Its causing big problems. If the install gets botched too bad the software packages for the APIM get pulled completely. Ford really needs to set the software to be more forceful. Its becoming a huge nightmare for ford the way they have it right now. It will only get worse as more car with this new architecture get on the road. I know lincolns and other cars are having issues and dont know what to do.

How ford doesnt have a engineering team that can do what I can is beyond me. They should be able to look at a vin and build a custom update package on the spot to correct the issue. Yet they dont and dealers are dropping the ball due to it.
If someone gets messed up can they sort it out with FDRS or are they just screwed on the Ford side of things?

One more example where FDRS is much safer than OTA.

I completely understand the argument against FDRS expense based on principle.
But that $600 ante is well worth having the better cards dealt to your hand.

The dealer today said they arrived at the diagnosis after running fdrs... and contacting tech support team. Blows my mind , before they tried to force the update thru fdrs everything worked fine.

If everything was working fine, why were they working on the truck? I guess I'm confused. I thought failed OTA or mangled OTA as a result of skipping over module updates was the issue?

So my point was that having access to FDRS, as well as the knowledge base of this forum, was an advantage regarding OTA and dealership shortcomings.

I admit that having a Mongoose and an FDRS license isn't a guarantee that nothing can ever go wrong.

No because the update is gone now.. once the OS reports installed the update is gone.
You cant recreate the update. SOme situations its gets so bad it pulls the software completely.

They could try a PMI of the APIM and see if it pulls the files that are missing.

But they cant create a update that only installs the missing files. I can. If they had a Full update the update would claim this update already installed.

Your issue was due to a failed OTA not the dealer. I see the failed Update. I can see everything. This isnt the dealers fault.

It is the dealers fault and Ford they dont know what to do

Here's what's happening with my truck: if on the nav screen when the truck starts, it'll go into a perpetual "loading maps" state with the spinning icon. But if I then select "Audio", and then re-select "Nav", the maps are loaded.

This happens with me and many others.

If they do end up replacing the APIM and install / update properly will that correct the issue with navigation and also the rearview camera not working while in motion ability from ota 4.3.4. If not should I try to install the update you sent me via USB thumb drive. I appreciate all the info Thank You.

Seems to me PMI should, as part of process, install whatever latest version of files are so it's updated.
I guess that would just make too much sense.

I get that Ford will never give dealers ability to update individual files but an automated process should be able to handle it. Keep it simple for the dealer people better equipped to turn a wrench.

Well I meant everything was working except ota 4.3.4 would not complete and then after they tried to force it thru I had no maps and my f150 was saying it was a Lincoln waiting on updates.
