I have a '21 3.5EB. It's my second one, the first being a 2016. I have run 93 octane in both because it just runs better. I have tried several tanks of 87 and even 91 and still find the driveability is worth the additional cost, at least for me.

I find if I just drive the speed limit my PB posts pretty impressive commuting mpg numbers. I run premium but I don’t think it factors much driving easy and smooth.

That would be fun. Expensive, but fun!
What tires do you have on your truck and do you plan to stick with those? I would be very interested in seeing the difference in whatever tires you use.

Kinda funny you mention this. I discovered the same thing with my last truck, a ’23 Tacoma. When I bought the new PB, I simply chose to use Premium. I have ran 87 a few times, saw a slight mileage drop. Also seemed a bit sluggish, that may have just been me.

Maybe it’s just a placebo, but using the higher octanes certainly makes me feel like I’m taking care of the truck more.

I don’t think it’s a placebo. The engine runs cooler and handles loads better with higher octane. It doesn’t have to compensate for poor quality fuel. It is a twin turbocharged engine after all lol.

Stock tires. I plan to stick with them or something similar. On other vehicles I’ve found more aggressive tires to be a huge contributor to lowering fuel mileage. Particularly on more fuel efficient vehicles. My 01 ram 2500 Cummins didn’t care what tires were mounted. I’ve never gotten stuck with regular tires so I don’t worry too much about it. I treat every situation as if I only have 2wd.
