I do have to say that it is one of my 3 year old grandson’s favorite features. When he “drives” Grandpa’s truck, it gets a lot of use. He seems to appreciate that it is somewhat loud and not very smooth. I do take his opinion with a grain of salt because he seems to be a big, but tiny Ford fanboy.

My crappy shifter lasted around 15,000 miles. It still worked, but it would get out of sync with the detents in drive and reverse and run the motor to try and correct without success. It would just make motor noises until you bumped it back into alignment.

I'd take the rotary shifter out of the Escape any day. Easy to shift without looking, and reasonably compact. Push button stuff like Lincolns look nice, but requires looking to find which button you want.

I had the same feeling about that shifter so I found one from a 2021 expedition it plugs right in and is fully operational accept the drive mode button with I think might be some forscan settings. The Manuel mode works too and the plus minus buttons. I just need to make a mount now. I was thinking something that slopes down like the cup holder and would have room for a stereo controller below it. Might be a while before I can tackle that project. Got the shifter on eBay for around $65.

Any update on how this turned out? Pictures? I just picked up a 2023 and will be doing the same thing. I bought a 3d printed replacement/mount that was designed for the bronco sport dial knob, but wanted to retain the manual functions. So I will be doing the expedition shifter and hopefully modifying the mount to make it fit.

Here is the link to the 3d printed mount I ordered. 2021-2024 F150 Stick to Rotary Shift Conversion Mount / Cubby (drop-in Replacement) - Etsy

I am on the second prototype but not near finished. I want to integrate OEM lighting somehow into a glowing trim ring with a similar look to the cup holder. I wish I knew more about 3D printing I think that would solve a lot of my problems. I am just using several layers of laser cut acrylic stacked up glued and inserted into the cubby. Here’s some pics of what I am running now. The shifter is from an expedition. The drive mode button does not do anything but the plus minus buttons work for changing gears and the M button works to engage manual mode. The little screen is for my DSP for the stereo. I don’t have many build pics because it’s not finished yet. I planed on doing a write up when finished but it might be a while.

It looks great man, I found the 3d printed cubby on the F150 Lightning forum. I'm sure there are some 3d printer guys on here that could make a nice clean version of this. I would definitely want one!

I'm planning to install the MachE knob in my truck this week; it doesn't have the +/- buttons. If someone wants to loan me their expedition shifter, I can modify the cubby the lightning guys designed to accept the version with the +/- buttons.

I have to say that I completely agree with the comments regarding the "cheesy" gear shift lever which was absolutely awful in my '21 Lariat. I think sometime toward the release of the refresh for '24 Ford made vast improvements in the mechanism because it is much, much better in my '24 Lariat. It feels solid and the click points between gear selections are crisp and firm. I hope it stays that way!

Do you mean modify the CAD and reprint it? I plan on modifying the cubby for the expedition one when it gets in. It is backordered and says early June.

Yes, the lightning guy shared his CAD files. I can modify them and print it for you if it's not too late to cancel your order on etsy.

Edit: I plan to start a dedicated thread for the swap once my parts get here. ETA is tomorrow.

Do you have the file you could share?

I can definitely do that. I'd love to see the changes you come up with, as that isn't even the one I ordered lol.

I direct messaged you.
