Hey all, I have a 2022 Lariat 3.5 eco, max tow package, so 36 gallon tank. I have about 15k miles on it (I know, I don't drive a lot) and the MTE has always been around 500 on a full tank for mostly city driving. This past week, after I filled it up, the MTE was it's normal 500ish for a full tank. After 4 or 5 days, it was tracking normal and down to maybe 425, then the next morning when I started it, it randomly added 200 more miles to MTE, it was sitting at like 625. That's over 100 more than the best estimate I've ever seen it display and way off as I was nearing 3/4 tank. It is tracking down now, but it is still over estimating by 200ish miles. I'm not sure what happened, I didn't DC the battery or notice any other abnormalities, just the MTE randomly adding 200 miles for no apparent reason. Anyone else have a similar experience? Can the MTE be reset to start calculating based on the next mile driven as if new?

My thought is because you don't drive it much, the battery may have run down just enough for that calculation to be reset. If you drive for awhile, you may notice the MTE will drop faster than it should.

I don't drive mine much as well and it sometimes takes awhile for it to "LOOK" correct.

I just replaced the battery in like October, for the reason you mentioned. The seat would only go like half way to its previous setting, then it started hesitating to start. Replaced battery and all was normal. This is something else.

Do you park on an incline? If the truck isn't level it can cause the fuel gauge to read incorrectly until it levels out.

How often do you reset your trip counters and fuel mileage? I reset my #1 after every fill and my #2 after ever oil change. The instant reading every couple of trips where I notice the bars are not close to lining up. They all effect your MTE.

Ours does this too. We set out on a 125 highway mile round trip and had more MTE returning home than when we left.

We've tracked the changes to average miles per gallon. In the above it was in the 20s. If we drive where the average lowers, the MTE drops.

It makes sense that how you are driving will adjust the MTE reading, that says that the two calculate off each other. On a side note I am currently half way through a 1400 mile road trip and my MPG gauge is tracking with in 1 MPG. I have read here people calling it the,"lie-o-meter" but on my 2024 2.7 eco it is spot on. Some city driving, lots of highway driving lots of 80mph into the wind, and pulling grades in the Rockies, has only given me 20.6 mpg. But the MPG gauge is spot on as calculated across 3 fill ups so far.

Same here. Calculated at fill ups vs. MPG readout and it's accurate.

I reported accurate towing/highway mileage a while ago on the F150 Reddit and was called a liar and worse. WTF!

Mine was accurate, it has stayed within ~500 miles for the 2 1/2 years I've had it, with the exception of longer road trips like to the beach, it will estimate up to 600 miles after driving that. However, this was at 425 one evening, then jumped to 625 the next morning with no other changes. This feels like a software bug or some software related issue. It shouldn't change by ~40% with no miles added for it to estimate.

In my observation the MTE seems erratic above 200 miles on the tank. AT about 200 MTE it seems to become quite accurate.

I have never seen any divination in the reading MTE. Every fill up is 745 Miles. On this trip at about 345 miles in to my drive I was at 1/2 a tank, allowing for the mpg reading that computes out( lower mpg =lower mte). I have never seen it change from one day to the next. Software bug or different version of software or hardware maybe? my build was Aug2024

The only time I've bothered to dbl. check it, was on a 5 week, 5K mile towing trip.

It was accurate to within a few tenths per tank in both directions.

Not worth my time to nit pick.

The MTE, more or less continually adjusts for driving habits and conditions. If you drive it hard one day and take it easy the next, you can watch the MTE climb.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
I say there are no problems if the truck is making more fuel while you are sleeping.
