Might be getting over the stuck OTA update!

So I bought the truck a month ago. Long story short I find out my truck has never received any updates. Take my truck in to get the power inverter replaced because it never worked ever since I bought it. They replaced the inverter and the harness today. They were supposed to update the truck and claimed it took the tech an hour to update. I go home, check for any signs of an update but nothing. I call back and explain that sync doesn't appear to have any updates. After I get off the phone I message the guy off here that looked up my VIN and he confirmed that all updates they tried failed.
I device to plug in the USB stick and give that update way a try. I'm working nights tonight and I went out to the truck and went to move it and alla of a sudden I noticed it says system updating. I check the about sync and it says revision 229! So that's gotta mean I'm over the broken OTA update huh?
Can anyone confirm I'm on the path to actually receiving updates now?

Where can you look up the VIN and see if it failed or not having some issues with my truck now and trying to figure it out

20262, 262nd day of 2020.

You are so far out of date it won't update without help. That may be one of the "broken" versions that requires replacing the APIM. Many on here know more about that than I do.

Post your VIN number in the VIN lookup thread and go from there.

Mongoose cable is DIY option in different thread but that's $600 cable + $50 every time you need a two day license.

Sync 20262 and 20301 are the ones that are known to break the OTA process. Your truck is still in OTA limbo.

This morning the USB update finally completed. So now I'm on this build. I know that I'm far away from being completely up to date but at least I don't have to worry about the dealership and the APIM getting replaced! Got the mongoose cable and the other cables ordered and they should be here tomorrow so we will see about the FDRS and hopefully that will get me completely up to date ?

Oh, that's a whole different story. That's awesome! Yes, you are up to date, but you will start getting updates now. Hopefully they come sooner than later.

I wonder if I will get the OTA updates because since I never had any I'm pretty sure I was locked out of any future updates until I register with FDRS that an update has completed. I'm hoping on miracles though but I already ordered the cable. I'm going to cancel my appointment with the dealership to replace my apim now. I'm just going to tell them Oh I guess your guys's update actually did work because now it's updated ??

FDRS is fun. You have a long way to go to get current so expect a long weekend when you have nothing to do or break it up into a couple weekends but that's another $50. Remember Sunday mornings Ford system is often down. Start Friday evening if possible and just plan on not going anywhere until late Sunday or Monday.

I'm going to try tomorrow after the cable gets here. I didn't know that Sunday mornings ford is down so hopefully it'll be back up by that time. And I'm going to try to knock out the modules within the two days that I have after work ?

Calendar days on license. If you buy on 6th you have all day 6th 7th 8th.

My update weekend I couldn't get FDRS to work until 1pm on Sunday. Your luck may vary.
