Darn, was waiting for a sale too. Maybe there will be a Black Friday one…
Today may be your lucky day. We actually have a couple of extra PB unit kits from the group buy coming our way. We may have over ordered by a few lol So if you’re interested, message us and we can get you in on the GB!

Was it a group buy or a pre-order cuz folks should have been getting them already.

A group buy. We explained all details in our post. We notated that once the promotion was over we would then place the order with LN so that we would get a bulk shipment. That order is specifically for all the orders placed so that we had the exact amount of units needed per model.

This was for all engine types not just powerboost. So we needed to get the order from LN so we could distribute properly.

Mine came today. I was able to follow this video and send out my stock calibration and filled out the tune request. Can't wait!

This is from a quick beer run with the 93 eboost tune.

After a bit of time under the belt, I'm really digging that it stays in electric mode for a longer time period and takes more throttle input to switch back to ICE.

Still waiting on my tunes to be sent. I figure they were closed for the holiday. Getting the recall work (wiper and light flicker) done at the dealer on Thursday, so I'll wait to apply after getting back from the dealer and ensuring the SW version that reads isn't different.

Livernois noted if it is, to resave the stock cal and re-request the tunes.

And still waiting on my tunes. Hopefully they send out soon...

I sent my stock tune to Livernois last Thursday morning. Didn't expect much until this week due to the holiday weekend.

Other than the initial email I got from them stating they received my tune request, I never received anything back stating my tune was ready. However, I plugged the device into my PC and launched the MyCalibrator App on Tuesday morning, and it downloaded the two tunes I requested (91-93 Tow and Performance). Do the same; perhaps yours will show up as well.

Haven't had a chance to flash the truck with the new tunes yet, so nothing to report back on that front.

Ethanol is a really complicated question for me. The biggest part is "What are your goals?" If saving money is the main goal, then 87 pump gas+Gas Buddy is impossible to beat. There's a geography component as well: if you have land and can get a 500 gallon tank filled on a regular basis when prices drop AND you're mostly driving local, then 93 can be an equal cost option. The cost delta between E85 and E15 doesn't always cover the delta in energy, but it is often close. From a pure engineering standpoint, if the cost to move a gallon of fuel X from the refinery to the gas station is fixed, then the more energy dense fuel SHOULD be cheaper from an overhead standpoint. In practice, I don't think that the difference comes out in the price at the pump.

All that said, if my truck ever gets made into a mostly farm use vehicle AND I can get a tune which allows for 91 when E85 is not available, then I would love an E85 tune even if the efficiency gains are negligible. I have heard but don't know if the peak combustion temperatures for ethanol are cooler than for gasoline without a performance hit. The even more interesting idea is to see if an ethanol/water azeotrope (95/5 EtOH/HOH which forms when E100 is exposed to atmospheric oxygen) could be tuned for. Water injection is valid, though I am not aware of a system which injects water premixed with the fuel. The idea there is that the water vaporizes during intake which reduces charge air temperatures AND whatever is left at the time of combustion flashes to steam which converts temperature into pressure with an effect similar to a mini steam engine within the cylinder. The issue is that too much water will reduce flame temperature too much, so that you get a sooty trail of unburned fuel because the water kept combustion temps too low (like in the old WW2 aircraft radials or in the early jet engines like the P&W TF33 on the B52). Throwing water into a modern lean burn direct injected engine without a tune would be bad and might be catastrophic, but with port+DI it might be possible to tune for it. The challenge would be that you wouldn't be able to control water injection independently, such that you'd still get 5% water even when you didn't really want it (think cold startup in cold temps when engine is trying to run rich). An E95/W5 tune would be a weirdo bespoke item, but MIGHT be an absolute beast. Exhaust already has plenty of water in it from hydrocarbon combustion, so I don't believe that exhaust corrosion would be an issue specific to water injection.

I am an idiot, they sent the tunes Saturday of last week (the email confirmation was in my junk folder). I was able to see them when I plugged in the device to the pc and hit 'update' from the software same as you.

I have my truck in for the 2 recalls now at Ford, so I am going to see if the SW number has changed (and if so, I need to grab a new stock calibration and request the tunes once more anyways).

Just gotta wait for the wife to get home so she can help me pickup the truck from Ford.
Then I can see if the SW number changed during the recall work (hopefully it didn't) and I can finally apply a tune and check it out! My last 2 tanks were 93 in prep of this, so gonna top off with 93 again to get all that powah

Applied the tune, closed the hood and the heavens opened up with rain (it hasn’t rained in weeks). The speed gods are smiting me o_O
