Interesting to read some of these issues, my 2021 XL 3.5EB with all the towing options has these few gremlins:

1. Wireless carplay uses it’s own WiFi network which isn’t linked to the internet, so you land up getting glitchy satnav whenever the phone tries to use the WiFi for internet again (Design fault and one I really do hope they fix)
2. Random rough shifts, had this on my new Edge ST when I got it in 2019, seemed to get fixed with an update a few months later so I’ll wait and see
3. Tire pressures are hidden many menus deep and aren’t available while driving. These were a main display option on my Edge so I can only imagine someone coded this badly. I want to be able to check tire pressures after I’ve hit some of the potholes here in CO :)
4. The Eco speed display screen randomly isn’t available, but then will be available the next time I drive, assume it’s a s/w glitch

So I have a good one, it seems, and am just waiting on some software patches to fix the few annoyances.
21 XLT 2.7 bought new with 100 miles in February. Currently 9k
200 miles.. Transmission shudder in 8th 9th 10th gear. Drivers window open close even when done touching button..Sunroof won’t close most of the times when vented on highway.
Wanted my 16 back but of course sold instantly!
Dealer had truck multiple times and even for weeks and couldn’t replicate the issues. Told it needs to learn my driving characteristics.. Hard to do when there are three different drivers on the truck!! Of course I pick up and it happens.. I even have video of SR issues.
Front air dam that comes down above 45 MPH is broken and I didn’t hit anythingthat I know of.. Built Ford tough my A$$.. Waiting to hear what Ford is going to do.
Now A/C is coming onwhen just in vent mode and the A/C button not pressed.

Very disappointed. I hear of all these by backs and that option not even presented.. and probably won’t be. Had spoken with customer care rep early on and haven’t heard from them since.Still waiting on what dealer refers to asa Recorder to be hooked up to truck so when shudder happens I am suppose to hit a button but of course recorders are limited at the dealer!!

AND for the gentleman that said earlier that these forums are for just the people who need a place to complain, and that we are a small number.. Dude I am sure your tone would change if it was you in our shoes!! No one should have to deal with issues like these with what is charged now a days. Manufacturers need to be held accountable and we shouldn’t have to just accept subpar quality as consumers!

I purchased my 2021 F-150 at the beginning of January. It had 6 miles on it and now has 7,000.
immediately I had issues with several things.
- Alarm going off all night long for no reason: We have several cameras on our house & when I would get the alerts about the alarm, I checked the cameras & nothing… not even a little wind.
- Bed rails warped from poor installation: The dealership STILL has not gotten the “back ordered because of COVID” parts to replace them. Brand new truck… really??
- Reverse brake assist SLAMS on brakes: when I reverse from the street toward my driveway, if the truck sees the curb (rolled curb) it SLAMS on the brakes giving everyone in the truck whiplash. I’ve had to turn off the reverse brake assist to keep from injuring people in my truck. The dealership‘s reply… “Yeah, my explorers does this too, I just have to turn it off” YTF have a feature no one can use??
- Rear cab windows do not roll down: Dealership decided it was a faulty sensor. They “told” me, but never replaced it or even ordered the part? I guess that’s my job since I just purchased an $80K truck from them?
- Display screen shuts off: The first week I had the truck, the screen would randomly shut off & completely re-boot while I was driving down the road. The dealership had zero explanation & shrugged it off. It’s done it about 10 times now in the 7 months I’ve owned it. This past weekend, one of the times it shut off, we lost power to the truck as well for about 2 seconds, then it came back and everything re-booted. NOT a good feeling when you’re going 75mph in steady traffic.
- Sound system sucks: I was told I was getting the “premium” sound package. Well, it’s not... And it sounds awful. Why did they go to this new system? The stock sound system in my 2013 F-150 was 20x’s better than this crap. I can’t get good music quality & it really ticks me off.

With just under 2,000 miles on the truck, we headed out on a family road trip to other states. And of course the people in the backseat couldn’t roll down their windows. {facepalm} I mean, why would they in such an expensive vehicle? We had already found a few issues (above) and then, while driving on a steep grade, winding road coming out of Yosemite, we received a warning light from the “AdvanceTrac“ system. As we’re all trying to figure out what the hell that means, my husband (driving) tries to slow down and we had ZERO brakes!! Of course there was a vehicle in front of us and we were nearing a stop sign and intersection! Thankfully he is a truck driver and immediately down shifted to slow the truck and moved to the right of the truck in front of us. He was finally able to bring us to a stop and we were ALL having heart attacks! The brakes slowly came back over about a 1/2 mile of driving on level ground (no incline). WTF?? I immediately called the dealership & they said to bring it in as soon as we returned home. (Thankfully we didn’t have any more issues before making it home) when I took it in, they kept it for a week, drove it as they pleased and then returned it to me with a shrug & said they couldn’t get it to act up, so it must’ve just been a one time thing? {facepalm#2}

I‘be received 3 recall notices already on this truck. Unfortunately our dealership doesn’t seem to think anything is emergent, so we’re still “waiting” to get them taken care of.

Overall, I’m very displeased with my vehicle. I wanted my 2013 back! But of course it sold a few days after trading it in. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr…. I love the “look” of my truck, I love the intended features, but I feel like I’ve never been able to fully enjoy the truck because of all the weird issues. It really sucks that Ford isn’t doing more to rectify a lot of these issues NOW, before someone gets seriously injured or WORSE!

Sooo Thankful no one was hurt regarding the brake situation. I also had to turn off my reverse break system. Whiplash backing up in driveway when it reached a hosta plant, but most importantly won’t let me back into my single car garage at all. Comes to a dead stop lol Truck doesn’t fit in the double garage due to shelving. Glad I can at least control that issue.

And agree with you as well regarding Ford needing to step up before something serious happens and also not being able to enjoy my new truck. We have been cheated!

After 500 miles on my 2021 Lariat:
  • Auto wipers (rain sensing wipers) - backwards. When enabled and it rains, they don’t go on. When it’s sunny, they go on. Ford admitted there was an issue and needs my truck for 2+ days to reprogram.
  • “Headlight System Error - See Owners Manual” flashed on my dash twice while driving. Went off and haven’t seen since and I don’t see/haven’t seen any real issue with my headlights. Weird.
  • Alarm went off once (so far) while in my driveway on a perfectly sunny - no weather event day. Couldn’t find any reason why it went off.
I had a 2019 F150 XLT FX4 Supercrew prior to this and it had zero - not 1 issue. Hope this isn’t a trend…

Only 4000km, but my only complaints so far are the wireless connection cutting out, and not being able to deactivate the asinine automatic door locks.

About 11,500 miles total now. My list after a 6,400 mile road trip:

Transmission:

Hard shifting both up and down, in all gears between 3rd and 8th after transmission has warmed up. Most noticeable while cruise control set and climbing hills, etc.

System messages:

Lane Centering shuts off randomly with no warning. Lane-Keeping System stays on. When attempting to turn it back on, the message “Lane Centering Assist Not Available” is displayed. Truck must be restarted to reactivate Lane Centering again. Occurring more and more frequently.

When Lane Centering does work it does not center the truck in the lane but rather hugs the passenger side much more closely than the driver side.

"Lane-Keeping System On" message randomly comes up when system is already active.

“Keep Hands on Steering Wheel (Amber)” message comes up even when actively steering.

“Keep Hands on Steering Wheel (Red)” message occasionally comes up even when the amber message has not been displayed.

"Resume Control" message randomly displays with no other prior messages having been displayed.

"Reverse Brake Assist Not Available" message randomly appears when in reverse.

Pre-collision warning popping up randomly even when there is nothing in front of the truck.

Electronics:

Personalized settings reset randomly - clock style, radio presets, vehicle feature settings, seat/mirror/steering wheel positions, etc.

Velocity of air from air conditioner randomly increases for about 1 min, then drops back down again when fan is in manual mode.

Sirius/XM radio issues: Random dramatic and brief volume increases (not related to speed compensation) AND channel skipping (sounds like a CD skipping on a scratch) across all channels after about an hour of playback AND random loss of audio, although image and titles still load.

Body/Trim:

Rear sliding window rattles with radio bass when completely closed, rattle stops once the window is opened even the smallest amount. Also, the window leaks when being washed (low pressure hose) as water spots appear on the inside of the rear window. Window does not seem to seat properly when closed.

Drivers side front fender emblem (F150 Lariat trim) has loose sound deadening insulation stuck to the inside of it.

Rear doors are not aligned the same as the front doors - must slam doors to make sure they are closed/deactivate door warning, and you can clearly see that they are not hung/aligned correctly. Rear door seals are also noisy (I assume this is likely due to misalignment)

Drivers side mirror motor slowing down. Occasionally stops mid fold.

Drivers side headlight beam is aimed quite a bit lower than passenger side.

Drivers side window does not roll down as far as passenger side. Once down, can be manually pushed down the rest of the way.

Moonroof outer seal (above drivers side rear door) folded in on itself.

So after having Lincoln buy back my 2021 Aviator, with 1600 miles, for several issues and over 30 days in the shop, I purchased a 2021 F150 Black Widow. The Ford seems a little better but not perfect. I really wish Ford could get their shit together. It's so frustrating. Nothing major so far, just poor quality.

1. On the way home from the dealer on the day of purchase, with about 20 miles the odometer, the front collision sensor alert come on stating the sensor was inactive. I shut the system off and it reset and has been ok since.

2. The drivers wiper blade was mis-installed and hitting the paint on the "A" pillar. I removed the arm and put it back on in the correct position.

3. The rubber according piece that expands when the sunroof is in the "vent" position was disconnected on the sunroof side causing it to catch on the shade when retracting.

4. The tailgate was making a bad creaking noise when opened. There is a plastic piece that attaches to the body and has a metal piece on the tailgate that rides in it that was mis-aligned and scraping the paint off on the tailgate side. I loosened and re-aligned the piece but the paint was scraped to bare metal on the tailgate. I'm not sure what to do about that, maybe some touch-up paint.

5. Rust all over the rear axel and front control arms. I cleaned all that up and painted it.

Like I said, it's nothing major, just crappy quality and poor attention to detail. I attached a picture of the stupid plastic piece that was rubbing the tailgate. Does anyone know what this is? It seems to serve no purpose whatsoever..

Navigation keeps going beck to 3 moths ago. I am waiting for dealer to replace. Every time I reset and enter new favorites it works until I turn it off. I was part of the drive shaft recall. The inspected and replaced parts. I love this truck. Hybrid platinum. We are the rest dummy’s for the future!

I am wondering for the owners who have 2 tone paint if they noticed that the line between the 2 colors is not a sharp line. It almost looks like someone took the tape off too soon. My buddy noticed it and now it bugs me.

I have had my KR 5.0 for 2 weeks now and haven't experienced any problems so far.
I am wondering for the owners who have 2 tone paint if they noticed that the line between the 2 colors is not a sharp line. It almost looks like someone took the tape off too soon. My buddy noticed it and now it bugs me.

Not much of a buddy!? yeah, that would bug me too!
Ford really should fix that, not a big deal for a decent body shop I would think.

Well, you asked for it:

Dealer fixed: 0 Important to note, not their fault, dealer techs were unable to find resolutions with Ford and the engineers after two service appointments.

1: XM Hardware Fault
2: Vision system camera fault
3: Private Comm network fault
4: Left/Right mirror heater output fault
5: Battery voltage fault
6: "Reverse Brake Assist Not Available" error message
7: Recirculation on climate control randomly shuts off after a few minutes
8: Air flow through dash vents poor to non-existent if deftrost and/or floor is also selected
9: Body panel fitment poor at: tailgate, hood
10: Rear bumper offset from rear quarter panels
11: Engine has started to make excessive noise (growl/gravely) intermittently; performance is reduced when this occurs
12: Lane departure system has failed randomly
13: Center screen gets very hot, up to 123 degrees when I measured it with a thermal-imaging camera
14: Digital speedometer and dial gauge speedo are off 2 MPH from one another
15: Center screen icons (icons only, not the text) all went black today....

I have a case filed with Ford and one of their support specialists is supposed to be getting ahold of me this week (after a week delay).
UPDATE:
Truck had been to the dealer 4 x's and was out-of-service for 32 days. Everything was eventually corrected with the exception of a recent FSA and recall (driveshaft clip). My dealer was awesome and my service manager worked hard to get this corrected for me. They ended up replacing the center screen, ACM and reflashed the system. During this ordeal I spoke with 4 different "Support Specialists". The first guy was helpless, the 2nd guy better but did not seem to know what he was doing. Eventually I couldn't even reach him by phone or email. The 3rd person was not much better but they did give me a supervisors email. After emailing them, Brian my 4th Specialist was awesome and made sure that things happened and happened quickly.

Because my truck qualified two ways for my state's lemon-law, I asked to begin the process. Brian was helpful in that but asked the question: "Why do you want to lemon this vehicle"? My only answer was that I had lost confidence in my brand new truck and that a 36 month warranty is a joke. He put me on hold and when he returned he offered a 75k mile/60 month warranty complimentary. I took him up on that since I do love this truck and do not want to go through the headache of the buyback process.

Last concern to Ford was that I was without my vehicle for over 30 days yet still made a payment. Again, he asked that I stay on the line and when he returned told me to expect a debit card in the mail (have received) loaded with the exact amount of one month's payment to Ford Credit.

So, truck is great, I am happy as to how my Specialist resolved the issues and my concerns. I'm sure other issues may occur but right now after much struggle with Ford, I am finally once again a satisfied Ford owner.

How did you get in contact with a specialist? Did you just have to call Ford and work the process that way? I’ve got a great dealer but a shitty service manager, and after having my truck out of service nearly 7 weeks, I still have more than half my list uncompleted. I too do not want the hassle of a buyback but I just wanna get this thing how it should’ve been.

Your truck decides when to slow down and brings you within inches of making contact with other vehicles in motion??
I think this right here was the final straw. 95% sure I’m gonna cancel my order tomorrow. Rust and alarms are bad enough. But a truck with a mind of its own is just too much for me.
Mr. Gunny I’m going to pray for you and a few other guys in this thread.
In the settings the DRIVER can CHOOSE to have the truck REACT to different speed limit areas.
Also the DRIVER can CHOOSE at what actual SPEED the truck cruises at once a new speed limit area is recognized.
Also, if a driver gets in front of me and goes slower my truck will MATCH the vehicle in front of me. My truck comes nowhere near other vehicles.

I have had no trouble with intelligent cruise control. I can also DEACTIVATE, if I want.
