Watching the videos the seller sent, did you cut away the originals or try to get them out without cutting? That’s a real no going back option! Haha

I did cut mine since I knew I was all in. It makes the job go much faster and of course you won’t break any of the clips. I thought for a quick second about trying to sell the cloth covers but in the end I was more concerned with getting the install right. My install took two days. I did the rear seats first and the front ones the next day. I could’ve done it all in one day but my hands needed a break. I would wear gloves and plan on your hands being sore.

Don't cut your factory covers, there is a market for them. Good upgrade for the vinyl guys or those who've destroyed one of their covers. No reason to cut them though, the process isn't difficult.

STX guys might want them as well to get rid of the lime green accents in their cloth

The risk vs reward for selling the old covers is what should determine which path you choose. Breaking the seat clips wasn’t a choice for me and the two shops I called locally said they either cut them off or leave the fabric covers on under the leathers. Not saying it can’t be done just that in my case and my experience level it was my more preferred method. It also saved me time.

I cut them off as the original fabric was stained in a couple spots and mine were only the 2 seats. I stopped keeping stock parts on this truck with 46k miles everything I take off is worn so not really a market for it.

Going the cutting route, resale isn’t worth the chance of breaking the clips and ending up with the seats not looking tight.

Surprisingly the entire center seam is different between the leather and the fabric so it’s not even connected on mine and looks perfect. I get what you’re saying about the side clips though as that would be a bad day breaking those.
Id really like to see the foam from a vinyl seat as it’s so soft compared so wondering if it’s a different foam.

Breaking what clips - red ones? I've torn down seats about a dozen times. I don't see how cutting them would be any easier. The covers couldn't come out of the plastic clips any faster with any more care than going 1 at a time. Must be bad vid out there showing how to remove them.

The seat is foam, very easy to repair foam, use polyurethane glue if it comes to it (gorilla glue)

The blue strips come out easy enough it’s the black ones that hold the surrounds that’s a pain at least with mine

I think it will cut down some of the time messing with the clips, at least it did in my case. I used some diluted interior cleaner to wipe down the foam before putting the leathers on. Good luck.

Looks good man, HUGE upgrade!!!
I was given an early Christmas present with some factory Lariat leather for my seats. I was intimidated at first then I watched the video and man it’s easy. I did both seats in about 2.5hrs.
eBay and it’s exact to my Lariat SD. The only thing that was different is the seat bottom cushion on the XLT has one blue plastic clip running across where the Lariat covers are all Velcro so there is one seam that is unattached. Doesn’t seem to affect it visually so I’m not going to sweat it.
I still have a few things to do but that was huge on looks. I’m going to get the center console lid recovered soon to get rid of the brown.

Looks nice but I would’ve went with the red brown piping to match your center console.

I've already done my front two and am starting on the rears now. My 60/40 seem to be connected and didn't come apart like in the infotainment videos. How'd you get yours out? And how did you take off the plastic "pivot" covers that you unlock with the key. I was prying on them but didn't want to break them.

The base of the 60/40 shares a bolt in the middle and one side rests on top of the other. Take that nut off and they should separate.
My truck doesnt have the lock that you do but those side covers kind of pop and rotate upward and out. They are a real pain to get back on also. I’m hoping that’s what you’re referring to as the “plastic pivot covers”? When you get one off you can see better how to get the other one off if that makes sense?
I hope that helps.
