3.5.2 was successfully installed yesterday in the evening.

Btw: In case you didn't know: You have the 21M08 recall for the unintended tailgate opening listed on your VIN.

Could someone on this thread be so kind to tell me when I would be receiving update 3.5.2? the last update I have was received and successful installed on 7/29/2022.

My VIN is 1FTFW1E58MKE96971.

Wondering if I have to go to dealer to get it updated.

Thanks in advance for your help.

It doesn't work that way. We can't predict when Ford will push the updates out to anyone. All we can do is check the current status if anything is going on. In your case, it is interesting to me because I have never seen anything like this. It says you got the two small updates sent to you in early September that come before 3.5.2, but it does not specify if the update went through or if it failed. I see you already got 2.8.3 which was the latest major update, so I would assume you're good to go. Your OTA history looks pretty good.

It is not worth taking to the dealer to update at this point. 3.5.2 is just a patch to prepare you for future updates that nobody has gotten yet.

Edit: After looking into it deeper, the update that was sent on the 7th and the 12th are the same, so I am inclined to believe the install failed. Weird, because this update has gone through seamlessly for everyone that got it sent to them. I still would not worry about it. Remind to check your truck again in a week or so.

Thank you so much for checking the status. At this point I don't think that I will take it to the dealer. The dealer is telling me that it would take as much as 8 hours to update. Superior technology at its best!

The dealer has no idea what they are talking about or are lying to you to deter you from dropping it off since they don't get paid for updating modules. These are minor patches that they can update in minutes unless there is something wrong with your truck. Based on your OTA history, I do not think there is. Maybe the guru @Jesse-Infotainment can take a peek with his software and confirm.

@rugedraw

Really appreciate your generosity lately. Adds so much value to the forum. Thanks

If I had to guess why a minor update that usually succeeds on most trucks but fails on another unexpectedly, could it not be battery health response from the BMS?

Or does the information source you are sourcing usually state something like that if it were the cause? I do know that some OTA logging on some source does record hints to the cause of an update to fail.

I'm one of those that will only see/know what is revealed in FDRS, so I'm curious and a little envious of the other fascinating resources. :)

Honestly, I am happy to help and wish I was able to do more for people that are having issues.

Yes, it usually will give you some kind of error code. If you look at the screenshot I posted, right under "completion status", it is empty. If you look at the one I posted earlier, it says "Campaign Successful". If is says "Campaign Failed", there is something you can click on that will give an error message. Sometimes the error message is something we can understand like low battery voltage, other times it'll spit out a nonsensical series of numbers and letters as the error code.

And like I've said before: I would rather have FDRS and be able to fix stuff than be able to see the problems and not be able to do anything about it. lol

Understood, but FDRS IS obtainable if someone wants it bad enough. (I did)

But what you are sourcing is out of my reach as far as I can tell. :)

Again, I appreciate your sharing.

Yea, but I'm not paying $900 a year for that. If an update comes out that I want bad enough, I'll get another $50 license or just wait for the OTA since my truck should be good to go now.

Yes, it is out of reach for most. The only reason I have access is because I used to work at two different Ford dealers for many years before I ventured off into the luxury car world and I have friends in the business that allow me access knowing that I won't screw them over with it.

Update for my Job 1 2021 Powerboost - like many I was stuck with ancient 1.7.1 OS versions, could not enable Automatic Updates, blank version report in Sync status from the truck (and no OTA updates for >9 months). I graciously got helped by others to create an APIM USB recovery stick - left it in the truck for about 2 weeks, and my APIM got updated. I then waited for ~ 2 more weeks, and got my first OTA update (to Power Up 2.1.0) - still ancient but progress! I hope more OTAs will flow shortly (waiting patiently, wifi connected, truck on charger etc.).

Great thanks to all on this forum - dealer tried hard (to update APIM etc.) but could not get this done (they still have an APIM on back order for me).

Thanks! Weird I got no notification this time.
Yeah I haven’t had a chance when the dealer could fix that. Might have them look at it tomrorow.

So as usual my truck is slow to join the party and I just got the 3.5.2 update. However, my wording is different than what y’all have posted. Mine directly talks about Alexa, see below. Don’t know if that means anything or not.

Different because the 22s have Alexa. So the 21 is playing catch up. I don’t know why the wait though. 22228 is proven to work with the hck/hcl gateway update3.5.2) don’t know why the apim isn’t spoiled right after. Ford is doing better but man. What is the wait for when you already have it working in trucks. It’s like the blue cruise. Why the wait when it was shipping in July builds.

If ford could get this together they would really make headway. Seems like they are starting to move in the right direction. I heard they have a new tech team lead. If true I’ll give that person some time but they should be moving fast to unify. Absolutely no reason for the fractured approach.

Also if the ford team reads this! It’s stupid to consolidate the bluecruise maps into another file it’s causing issues !

Shoot I thought I was on to something! At least it’s not overwriting an old APIM version!!
