It was updated (is rolling out to them) on the 12" Lightning screens, and one of the other threads has a PDF of the update description submitted to the NHTSA that lists it as applicable to 21-22 F150. The Lightning is a 22+ model only, so process of elimination should be coming to the ICE trucks too.

Thanks for that. I couldn't remember where I read that and I obviously prompted a few "I already have Alexa" responses.

It's always less black & white than most want it to be when it comes to these updates. Especially regarding official information from Ford. Even their notifications are vague.

My option to choose auto updates is grayed out. From what you guys are saying, maybe that's okay with me for now.

Not sure I'd be happy with a greyed out OTA screen. That implies your truck is stuck permanently at 1.7.4
There's a ton of updates between where that truck is and the update this thread is about.

I had a Ridgeline before my F-150 - now THAT was a helluva built in cooler!

No, it is just a patch to prepare for future updates.

I got 3.5.2 yesterday (9/16).

I’ve noticed *no* changes, so I’m inclined to believe Ford‘s vague statement about it being the “update that allows future updates” in that it’s some sort of foundational update for an upcoming update, presumably either libraries needed for the future update, or an underlying OS/app update.

It's possible that I had both stacked on the same day and so I am mistaken that it was a single event?

If 3.1.1 is a different update, it wasn't mentioned in FordPass.
And Sync never prompted for 3.5.2

I went out today and my job 2 ‘22 showed the 3.1.1 update available message and I clicked cancel. When I git back home I went into software updates and it only showed 3.5.2 available, as @Snakebitten mentioned, linked perhaps. I have to see If this is considered “safe”. I have everything off and no wifi hookup, but the mothership still appears to able reach out.

the reference to the Alexa change looks linked to 3.1.1 per the FDRS thread. 3.5.2 is BC maps.

I went to Lexington Saturday and my BC worked handsfree, not on the trip home Monday using the same route

I’ll probably initiate the update after I finish my running around today, BC improvement would be nice. First update, hope it sets a good precedent for others.

Yes, sir. Honestly, I'd rather have what you have than what I have. I can check OTA status, but I can't do a damn thing about it if they fail.

Well, I won't be able to do anything after midnight tonight. My 2 day FDRS license expires then.

after receiving that message the system that keeps me in the lane kept showing "canceled" (not blue cruse). It sat for a couple hours than later in the day we went back out and my AC system hung, it was getting warm in there, knows would not change temps, than I realized that the sync screens were all hung as well. Shut off truck and opened door but sync did not shut off. Restarted truck (hoping I would not have to walk) and within a couple seconds sync rebooted and everything was back to normal.

maybe when it gets darker I will go out for ice creme so I can admire my Glare free highlights.
