I usually use mine from everything from pulling quads to hauling a skid loader and a loaded dump trailer I’ve never had any big issues with the 5.0 hopefully the 3.5 can keep up.

What drive train are you getting?

XLT Supercab with 8' bed. 3.5L EB 3.55 rear end with Max Tow. I am very excited, this is my first new vehicle. Will be getting my F150 through its first 1000 miles asap so I can tow with it!

Yeah, you will be fine in fact you are in for real treat if you have never driving a 3.5 towing.

Actually stepping up to the F-150 so that I can increase my use of the truck "as a truck". Going to do more camping, with and without travel trailer, more boating, and, most importantly to me, pulling my TJ Unlimited Rubicon to trails/trail events through out the mid-states. I wanted to pull it to Moab last year, but the Taco was just not up to it. Went to Moab and rented a Jeep, which was also amazing, but would have been something in my Jeep. I can't wait to see what I can do in my big boy truck.

After owning an Explorer, couple minivans, Audi A4, 4Runner, and GMC Acadia... Bought my first pickup 5 years ago, a used 2010 Lariat SuperCrew, as I wasn't sure I wanted or really needed a pickup.

Now, I don't know how I ever made it by without one!

I tow boats, dirtbikes, mountain bikes, 7x14 enclosed trailer, rental Bobcat (definitely exceed my tow rating!), about a thousand trips combined to Lowe's, Home Depot, Costco, lumberyard, landscaping wholesaler, etc. Several large DIY home renovation projects, a flip house reno... the list goes on. Luggage and ski equipment for a family of 5, never would have made it to the airport in a single vehicle without the F150. Moving 3 kids back and forth to college x 4 years, helping friends move, etc. I've also pulled stumps out of the ground and towed folks out of snowbanks.

And... When it's time to get dressed up and go out with another couple, the F150 accommodates with plenty of room, luxury, and style.

I don't think I'll ever own anything else!

Just curious how many on this forum actually use the truck for trucky things... I love all the new technology, powerboost engine, great fuel mileage, add ons, bed covers, lift kits, wheels, tints, ceramic coatings etc etc etc! I use it as a daily commuter, errand runner and family vehicle 95% of the time.

However, today I used it for the 5% where I use it like a truck. Today it was put it through some paces for the first time and it performed flawlessly. Did 3 trips to the dump with some heavy loads that filled the bed up with a bunch of weight (800-1000 pounds) and it didn’t blink like it’s supposed to. Even got some electric miles and 21mpg with all that weight... AMAZING!

There will also be a whole bunch of fishing and hunting in the future with coolers, rod holders and hopefully some trophy bucks in the back. Hauling treestands and 1,000 pound loads of corn off-road and a bunch of other fun trucky things! The 5% stuff is the reason why I bought a truck. And today my 2021 Gen 14 F150 did exactly what it was designed to do. False alarms, rusty axle and all... still love it!

The trailer mileage on my 2015 3.5 XLT was 27% of my miles, so I guess my use is/was pretty much trucky as probably another 10% is carrying loaded pallets in the bed. I only put 30K on over 6 years, as I had another vehicle for sporting around. But the payload and towing capacities were necessary for hauling my digger around. I expect to use the 2021 Powerboost more for sporting about because of the fun tech and the mileage.

If it makes you feel better about exceeding your tow rating, I recently saw a video of an '80's Trans-Am towing a bobcat. Not much shocks me these days, but that certainly got my attention.
