Is UV coolant dye safe for PowerBoost

Hi all:

It seems I have another coolant leak. I pay close attention to my coolant level given I am on my fifth heat exchanger. So yesterday I noticed my coolant level in primary reservoir had dropped from the max line to the middle of the safe zone.

Naturally the first thing I did was crawl under the truck and closely inspect the heat exchanger. It was completely dry. The heat exchanger is the new variant which supposedly fixes the famed leak issue. With the heat exchanger ruled out I took a very close look at the turbo coolant lines; these were completely dry and showed no residuals or staining. I then went forward to the front of the engine and noticed a small amount of a green (not yellow) liquid, only a few drops. I could not find a source but the drops were on the bottom off the lower Intercooler hose, frame, and another unidentified hose. I inspected the water pump as best I could and I did not see leakage.

I am now thinking about putting in some UV coolant dye into the primary coolant loop to help spot the source. Do you know if UV dye is safe for the a PowerBoost unique components?

Update: I bought an UV light. Fresh Ford yellow antifreeze does glow under UV, but the old coolant in the primary loop does not. I think this is due to the many heat cycles it experiences and why it also changes color over time.

If you took it into ford they would put dye in the coolant so yes it's safe. One spot to look for a coolant leak is front of the motor between the v at the thermostat housing. This is where I had a coolant leak at.

I put the UV dye in my coolant Friday and I have been inspecting for leaks the past two days. Nothing yet but it is early if the leak is small.

What has surprised me is the amount of UV fluorescent material in our trucks. A lot of connectors, both high and low voltage, labels, and dipstick glow very brightly, either yellow, orange, green and purple. Same with most of the adhesives used throughout the truck, I suspect for QA/QC inspections. Even freshly applied fluid film glows a soft yellow. Unfortunately some of the braided hose shields also glow a very faint dull yellow/green.
