This is a short video of what my truck is doing when I hold the throttle at a constant position. It just started doing this a week ago. Under hard acceleration it shifts perfect no issues and no hunting.

Has anyone's truck ever acted like this and if so what was the culprit?

Looks like it's hunting for the right gear to be in. At 92K could be a dirty filter especially if never serviced.

Also might be some aberrant behavior it picked up and applied to the adaptive transmission tables. Try switching the drive mode to Tow or Sport to see if it continues. Once tested and regardless of if it does it in another mode, use Forscan to clear the Adaptive shift table then drive it around in sport mode for about 50-100 miles to see how it behaves. If it still does it after that then may want to look into having the transmission serviced with a new filter screen and fresh fluid.

If it still does it after all this then may have an issue with the valve body and one or more sticking solenoids/valves.

I serviced the transmission at 75k miles new filter and oil. I am however going to put it on the lift and check the quality of the oil today.

I reset the adaptive tables last week and it didn't seem to do anything sadly.

It doesn't really shift though. It just kind jumps between 1800 and 2000 rpms. If i give it a little more throttle it will smooth out until it shifts and then go back to hunting rpms if I go soft like 30-40 percent on the throttle. If I give it like 60 percent throttle it doesn't do it.

If you just reset it then it could still be in it's relearn phase but I have never seen one do this in that phase. Might consider clearing the tables again, then turn off the adaptive learning system under the forscan service procedures, reset them again, then take it out in sport mode for about 20-30 miles to test it out to see how it behaves without them enabled. After that re-enable the adaptive learning and repeat the test drive in sport mode it to see how it behaves.

This may be an issue with the throttle body or something in the drive-by-wire circuit, such as the gas pedal position sensor.

Ill give it a try. Thank you for the help I'll report back.

The truck is now tuned through MPT W/Transmission tune. Same weird thing. Im gonna make a log and send it to them Monday and see if they can see anything strange woth the log.

May sound silly, but if you set the cruise to 30 (seems about the speed of the trouble), does it still do it? Looking for a constant speed here.

Also, can you isolate the gear it's happening in by using manual selection? It would help if restricted to one or two gears.

Remember, this is a hydraulic machine. Clearances are fine. I believe Ford misleads people by saying no service needed until 150,000. I have now changed oil & filter several times. The transmission is operating just fine.

Ill get a video. The strang thing is its literally every single gear. If I speed up to 75 aggressively and set the cruise then let it up shift when it hits 10th it will bounce rpms for a split second from 2000 to 1800 then settle out. At full throttle it grabs each gear and the rps dont bounce until I let off and let it shoft up to tenth.

Sounds like it could be the torque converter playing up, or the things that @Porpoise Hork mentioned.

it looks like the computer isn’t controlling the throttle correctly. Check the throttle position sensor and the electronic throttle control valve with a scan tool.

My old truck did this but it was only when I had it on a tow or performance tune. Killed the tune and set to stock and issue went away every time. I stopped running a tune because it was annoying in road-trips

It was doing it before the tune 😭😭😭 I was hoping the tune would take it away but it didnt change anything. It does it the worst in normal drive mode but does it in all drive modes. Im waiting to hear back from my tuner to see if the logs show him anything.

Its not throwing any codes at all. Is it something i can check even with no codes?
