Is my lock broken or is this a bad design?

Went to get in my truck yesterday and it wouldn't unlock with the fob. No biggie, my battery has been weak for a while, must be dead. I'll just use the actual key... or so i thought. Stick the key in, turn it, nothing. My truck also won't unlock with the key in the door handle.

Do our trucks have no way to unlock the door if the battery is dead or is my lock just broken? Surely Ford wouldn't make the backup lock on the truck electronic only?

Mine unlocks with the key but then a countdown starts, if I do not start the truck within 3.5 seconds the alarm goes off.

Either it broke or someone forgot to assemble your door properly!

Yeah it's cut, it's the one I use to start the truck. I don't have one of them fancy push buttons.

Technology has come to a point where the push button start is as reliable, if not more reliable than a twist key. I’ve now have four successive vehicles (12 Focus Titanium/16 Edge Sport/21 F150 Lariat/22 F150 Tremor), with nary a problem with any of them. YMMV. consider it on your next purchase.
