I have a FORD F150 Lightning 2023 XLT 311A model. Recently did a DIY for adding Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering.
Software architect by profession and very interested in open pilot. Was doing some research and landed on this blog post .

Can someone please guide with regards to exploring Comma 3 X for my truck?
Trying to understand what hardwire i need to buy, Do and Don'ts with regards to hardwire/software installation.

Any pointers you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

you need,

A comma F150 kit (comes with Q4 harness) and a long USB cable (comma specific cable)

A lightning resistor coupler (3rd party device specifically designed to remedy issues with the light canbus architecture)

Yes, that one.

Installed 5.0 from 2.1

Noticed it handled cars leaving the lane in front much better, less slowing down.

A couple turns 5.0 can’t handle that 2.1 had no problem with.

Also following distance is definitely increased.

May switch back to 2.1.

Thank you. Do i need to select "8 Degree W/ F150 Lightning Coupler " ? Also does it add $35 to Total cost: $70 ?

the doc is $70, the lightning specific coupler is $35. $105 total for a lightning dock.

and yes that is the correct selection.

Thank you. Seems like suddenly the device itself is running short on supply :-(.

Do we have any alternative to get it faster for a different provider ?

Sorry if this is a common issue, but couldn’t find it on a search. Had my comma for just over a week now, the factory open pilot wasn’t very good (terrible ping pong), installed blue pilot and it’s been awesome.

Issue is probably half the time I start my truck and drive, the comma will give me the “vehicle unrecognized / camera mode” error. If I shut the truck down and restart it works most of the time, sometimes it takes two attempts. Is this a common issue? I had the same issue with open pilot and blue pilot. Thanks

Konik A1M, not sure if they are caught up on back orders yet or not. They also don’t sell a Q4 harness. You would still need that from Comma.
