13 to 15 HP gain in video I posted. But it was also on a 1000 rwhp truck. The gesi catted version picked up over a cat deleted y pipe. Pretty impressive. Without the header headache.

On order ‘22 RCSB.
I have learned two things to keep in mind when talking about cat temps.

the temp values are calculated and not actual temps. Only way to have real temps is with a thermocouple. But the calculated temps are a good gauge of change so if you are seeing a drop in temp then I would expect that real temps are also lower.

You shouldn’t go to 0% throttle for too long with hot cats (1600F calculated?). Over temp protection relies on fuel being pumped through causing a rich condition to cool the cats as well as exhaust flow.

I plan on getting this setup from SPD so keep the info coming.

@Northlandmatt Looks really good and awesome truck. I work in Boston and if you were one of the firefighters that inspected 45-55 Brighton then you probably inspected my job, or maybe one of the other Hamilton jobs.

Hey @JCsTruck, really appreciate the kind words—thank you! I’m with Boston Fire and work out of the Dudley St. Firehouse, but I didn’t do the inspection at 45-55 Brighton or any of the recent Hamilton jobs, so that must’ve been one of the other guys. Small world, though! I’ll definitely keep an eye out for any hot work details on future Hamilton projects—would be great to connect.

It is a small world! My next project that would be under my jurisdiction and involves hot work would be 127-135 Washington St fire escape repairs. That one has a lot of fire escape welding repair work that needs to be done. Rene Mugnier & Associates is the structural engineer. The bids are due June 1st for that project and it should be awarded and ready for construction by Sep2025. I’m the PM for that one.

I’ll keep an eye put for any 2024 Lariats that accelerate faster than normal with BFD stickers on them. ? Again, super nice truck!

I swapped the SPD Alpha cat pipe to my Stage 2+ (lol) Whipple truck last week. At WOT It is MUCH louder than the factory y-pipe. At idle and cruise it sounds amazing. This is with a Corsa extreme. Gonna have to find a way to tone it down.

Aside from that, it fit perfect, and the quality is very impressive to me as an engineer and hobbyist fabricator.

I've got 5K miles now with mine installed and SickWeek racing everyday for 6 days (1 practice day) on my SPD Hi-Flows with an MBRP side exit. They run about 200degree cooler at full boost over the stock ones. Before the swap, I would touch 1700+ degrees under extended loads (like 1/4 mile runs) and that worried me, so I did the swap and couldn't be happier. Better flow, lower temps and much better sound. As others have said, quiet under cruise but howls to life when you floor it.

I run a Banks IDash and have both banks of cat temps displayed along with, both banks AFR and IAT and Boost. No boost drops seen and my AFR's stay nice with the stock Whipple tune. Once the 24's get cracked, a re-tune should make it even better.

Did you have any check engine lights after install? Did you have to retune for the new setup?

From their website:
-SPD Alpha Cat is a 500cell catalytic convertor and will out flow our previous 400cell performance cats by +90%.
-NO CEL - Ultra High Flow 500Cell catalytic converters that do not cause check engine lights

So far, so good. No CEL, and no retune in my case.

No CEL at all and no I did not re-tune. I installed these 2 weeks before I left for SickWeek and then raced them all week, so after the break in (per their instructions), I have not babied the truck. Whipple tunes are pretty conservative, so swapping out the stock cats for the hi flows did not have any negative effect.

This is what a stock cat looks like inside, see the Swiss cheese grate? really slows the flow!
