Does anyone have any information about changing the transmission fluid and filter on the PowerBoost.

Looking online I see some 10R80 videos online I see people jacking up the cross member and looks very involved. This is specific to the 5.0 version. I have not been able to find anything specific to the PowerBoost other than the transmission is not exactly the same and the upgraded pans are not compatible. And as far as I can tell, nobody makes upgraded transmission pans for the PowerBoost.

If anyone has done this, did you have do anything unexpected when changing out the filter?

Does anyone have a link to a forum/video of someone doing this?

If anyone has purchased an upgraded pan for the PowerBoost, what did you get?

Here is video on the 5.0 engine which he says is hardest. He gives clues about other engines throughout this demo…

You could probably unbolt the 4 bolts holding the transfer case to the crossmember and then use the factory jack on some blocks to jack up the front of the transmission to get more clearance between the exhaust and the pan. That's the method I used for holding the trans during transfer case swaps when the crossmember is removed. I put a dense piece of rubber between the jack and the trans. You may also find a way to shim it away from the exhaust as the crossmember can stay put (may be an easier method) --- the exhaust is attach to the motor but can flex some.. That'd be the first method I'd try. If you have a pressure washer, might want to blast underneath the truck first to get rid of any dirt under. Follow up with a blower to get rid of most of the water. 1' long 6x6 blocks under all 4 tires will buy you enough height to work under it comfortably -- don't forget to set the e brake.

On the Powerboost, the crossmember does not get in the way. Also, the newer 10r80s found in gen14s have had the heat exchanger moved so you don’t have to dink around with it.

Thanks, I'll try using shims if I end up in a difficult spot and then do the cross member if needed.

This is what I was hoping to hear. Have you done the trans service yourself? If so was there anything note able?

I have not changed the fluid but I have checked the fluid level. I also discovered my tranny pan was cracked and seriously considered replacing it with an Aluminum version. I had scoped it out, but in the end went with the warranty replacement since I have a skid plate.

Good work getting your pan off.

I did this today but with limited success. I could not get the pan to clear the exhaust cross tubes. I think the hybrid components were in the way at the rear end of pan.

I went in to replace the parking solenoid and was lucky that there was just enough space to access it with the pan kind of hanging forward.

There was no chance of getting to the filter bolts so I put it back together and top off the fluid.

Did you have to move the cross tubes or jack the transmission to get your pan to drop off all the way?

Here’s a pic of my experience

Did you try to pry the exhaust back w/ a crowbar to buy distance from the trans?

It seems pretty ridged when I pushed it up with my hand. I would be scared to pry it hard enough to make enough clearance.

I actually meant to make this post in the other thread linked above
