Any tricks to improve the garage door opener signal? Was horrible in my ‘18, just as bad in my ‘23. Have to press and hold in a small zone to get it to function.
I have a side load garage, but no issues with wife’s vehicle or the vehicles I’ve previously owned.

I have the same issue! I even swapped out the receiver antennas for long range models and I still have to pull the visor down a little and then press the button. That said, my garage door will open 100 yd. away ?‍♂

if you are saying that your small garage door opener clipped to the visor will not open the door when you are sitting directly in front of the garage door, I am also seeing a similar problem with my 2023 PB F150.

This may be caused by an artifact called "desense" that occurs when there is a radio signal that is close to the frequency used by your garage door remote system present and overwhelming the receiver in the opener. The RF may be coming from our vehicles.

The opener typically uses a rolling code and checksum system to validate the remote after registering it.

https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/598717/reverse-engineering-garage-door-opener-signal

The radio signal is typically modulated at 300mhz, 310mhz, 315mhz or 390mhz depending on the generation of the system.

LED lightbulbs, which you may have installed in the door opener, will emit RF energy and interference which can desense the receiver in the opener.

WOW. glad i found this thread. My F150 is the first vehicle with homelink that has issues with my garage door.

All my past cars including my current 21 Tesla has no problems. My F150, always a hit or miss.

Is it a design fail? Why all my other cars with homelink no issues?

my 22 will reach our community gate at just a bit over 200 feet away, this way its fully open just as i get to the gate

at the house , i had to run an ant wire for opener out to the outside, because my garage is all steel and heavily insulated and is like a farady cage

Have you got LED bulbs in your opener?
I had an issue with this a few years ago. Some cause interference. They now have "garage door opener safe" LED bulbs. I had the same issues you describe, and fixed it by changing back to incandescent bulbs.
Sounds crazy, but it's a thing.

Incandescent blubs in my opener... LED in the ceiling, when LEDS are on, opener doesn't work with remote as one ceiling bulb is about 8 inches away from the opener.

Here is a bit more on LED bulbs and RF Interference.

I'll do some testing with a spectrum analyzer, but it's not just the household LED bulbs that can cause this interference.

What are the most powerful LED bulbs in the area of your F-150 truck when you pull into the driveway in front of your garage? The headlights... If you are 100 feet from the garage, they won't desense and overload the garage door receiver. But if you're sitting just the other side of the door...

Interesting. Mine works from the stop sign two blocks down, just shy of 1/8 mile

I’m with you. I can be at least 1/8 mile away hit the homelink button and garage is open and ready when I turn into driveway.

i replaced some of my motion lights last week with these...OH BOY they are BRIGHT as stadium lights
LED

my inside light that runs off the garage door signal is a standard bulb in one side and squiggly florescence in the other

Some of the Good Earth light have an FCC ID certification:

https://fccid.io/2AUI9

It's likely that this one does. It has a metal case which would help suppress RF interference, and it's manual says it's part 15 compliant.

The inexpensive bare LED bulbs that have plastic bodies probably emit quite a bit of RF.

Here is further discussion. The 300 to 390 mhz frequencies are just below the UHF amateur radio band discussed:

https://forums.radioreference.com/threads/led-headlights-causing-noise-on-my-hamradio.391335/

The RF noise being generated is not on the frequency used by the garage door system, but nearby the frequency and strong enough to swamp overload the receiver, essentially deafening it. That's why the opener works from a distance, but fails when you're nest to the garage if it's coming from the vehicle, or combined with other interference from LEDs in or nearby the garage.

Very interesting read, learn something new everyday here, thank you.

In my case, my garage door opener works as expected. Meaning, the Homelink button in my truck will open it 100 yds away.

As for the main gate and my home gate, they both use RF frequency 300Mhz or 310Mhz (Jumper selectable) units. I have to be right on top of the gates and lower the Homelink visor about an inch to open each gate. While I don't have a way to check for interference, the nearest anything to each gate is 200+ yds away. Line of sight to each antenna.

On the other hand, my Jeep has Homelink too and has no issue with opening the gates or the garage door.
