on a cross country trip. saw some ridiculous winds on I40 and then again between White Sands and Roswell NM. newsworthy storms. during headwinds the truck indicated 15mpg. with tailwinds I was at 23.9 ! overall so far the 5.0 w/3:31's is averaging 18. but the ride is awesome. on the long straights with adaptive cruise and the lane keeping its a poor mans blue cruise. I just wiggle the wheel every minute or so and the truck drives itself. The back roads from Roswell to Amarillo were great, 4 lanes and no traffic. but there is nothing out there either.

My 5.0 has been averaging 18 MPG as well with a healthy mix of city and highway. Before I test drove it I was concerned about the 3.31s, but this new gen 4 engine quickly put those concerns to rest. I think Ford reworking the torque band helped the case for 3.31s out. On paper the 5.0 gained 10 lb ft over the 3rd gen but the real change is that the peak torque is lower in the revs, so yes it’s 10 lb ft more than a 2020 but you also hit that figure with less throttle application so you aren’t into the throttle as hard. With the 3.31s you are basically idling on the highway…and running in V4 mode. Very impressed with the fuel economy. Here is to hoping this cylinder deactivation is better than the GM system, it very well could be. They share absolutely nothing in design, and Ford has had success with this design in other markets.

i agree ! had a 5.0 with 3.73's on order before buying this truck. I have been very impressed with the performance of the 3:31 gears. I love turbos but wanted a V8 in this truck, and if its running on 4 cylinders at speed I sure cant feel it.

I’m 24, so I’ve grown up with the turbo movement. Definitely appreciate the EcoBoost. But I also have always had a thing for the V8 roar. They had all the motors in stock, once the 5.0 roared out like a T-Rex merging onto the highway the salesman looked over at me and knew it was sold. I was grinning ear to ear. He said he’s went back and forth between the 5.0 and 3.5 on several trucks since 2011 and loves them both. Can’t really go wrong with either.

So I believe I am the last of the group to receive my truck. 6 days shy of 15 months.

Dealer said that the truck crew was having issues with the truck.

Dealer sent a truck/trailer after it, with Ford's blessing, and was able to get it loaded and off loaded at the dealership on hybrid power.

Apparently someone ran it out of gas.

They are going to finish PDI tomorrow and bring it to me.

Crappy picture from the wash bay. I will get some better ones after I get it to the house

Thank you all. Plenty of ups and downs throughout the journey. This forum has been excellent to know that I was not alone during this process.
Took the dealers badge off and replaced the front plate with my old one. That will need to be replaced in the future. First some tint on the fronts. Unfortunately we can only go to 40%, but the ceramic still helps.
As promised, a couple of better pics.

That is a "rich" looking truck as my dad would have said back in the day! I love the two tone and the chrome, but then I am biased ever since buying my KR in the same scheme only with red.

That is a great looking truck! I do love that two tone. It’s definitely a distinctive truck. I haven’t seen that color combo. Enjoy your truck man! We can finally retire the crown from our group. Now we can all just have fun with them. Congratulations! So happy for you

Any of you guys having issues with your truck. Mine has been with the dealer more than Ive had it since 12.21.22 delivery. Biggest problem is "shaking" for lack of a better word at 70-75mph 1500ish rpm. Its now at a second dealer, everyone agrees something is not right but has no clue what it is or how to fix it. Tires rotated and balanced 3x's then completely replaced, little improvement but has not fixed the issue. MY22, 4.0 lariat Screw, 4x4

Haven’t had any issues yet. Just got back from Vegas and averaged 70-75mph with no shaking. Hope they figure that out for you. Sorry to hear this
