Dang Jus! I was expecting that weak Chevy knockoff you drive around nowadays, but instead it's a beautiful KR! ;)
Ha ha.... These are across the street at my neighbor's drive right now. They are taking over. :ROFLMAO: Check out the trailer (dirt bike & snowmobile) . In Michigan you need to be ready for anything, even in the summer. ;)

Let me guess your build.

502a, 4x4, Moon roof, FX4, lockable under seat storage, Electric tailgate. Tailgate step, power running boards, unleashed, bed utility package. factory tonneau and bed liner, factory wheel well liners. Plus maybe a few other things.

That would about account for the difference between yours and my 501a 4x4 with a payload of 1658.
Great guess or you just read my build description in my signature! Actually, went for the fully automatic tonneau cover.
So one thing to keep in mind is that payload is weight that can be carried using both axles of the tow vehicle. Conceptually, think of it as weight placed between the steer and drive axles.

Payload does not necessarily mean that is the tongue weight (or hitch weight) your vehicle is capable of supporting. Tongue weight and hitch weight are more closely related to the rear axle weight rating (RAWR) than payload capacity. Furthermore, the hitch weight of a bumper tow application actually applies a lever action on the rear axle weight rating - as opposed to a 5th wheel or goose neck application.
So much to learn and take into consideration. When the time comes, we'll "try before we buy" and rent 2-3 different class Airstreams and figure out all the weight variables and see how the truck performs.

Do that and you'll have to pull over and charge every hour. :ROFLMAO:
You have to admit that range anxiety could eliminate boredom while driving at night into parts unknown.

for us clean drinking water is paramount
i can count on ZERO fingers the campgrounds we have visited that had water that was actually drinkable, and not full of minerals chunks

we used to carry min 4 cases of water in basement and 2gallons Gatorade and tea in fridge
we put in a RO system so now we carry 1 case of water and still full gatorade and tea in fridge and filter our own water for gatorade mix, tea and coffee

i do not understand why so many campgrounds have junky water supply pipes of iron pipe.

Keep the Powerboost though, even if you do get the Lightning.

You'll need a Powerboost support truck following you to charge from?

I'll take pictures of my truck charging my Leaf, just to prove it's the perfect EV roadside rescue. :)
Yeah, no doubt sticking with My22. Went for all the bells and whistles on this one since presumably this is our last truck. Anyway, I've noticed several members here say they have the EcoBoost. Just curious on your opinion on that vs the PowerBoost when it comes to towing? Are they close? Also, I would imagine that since it doesn't have the weight of a hybrid battery, that's a huge payload advantage.

I think you mentioned your payload is 1300 or so and your tongue wt is 500lb. My crayon math indicates 800lb. left for people pets and gear.
Stowing gear in the trailer reduces the payload hit by about 90%. Cases of water that combined weigh 100lb add just 10lb to payload if they’re in your trailer properly positioned. 2 cents from a newbie…

I carried a Yamaha 3000 generator and a 5 gallon can of fuel in the bed of my 2018 3.5 Ecoboost.
Not only was it a beast to get in/out of the truck, (I'm no spring chicken), but it counted against Payload.

About 210lbs

So the Powerboost reduction in Payload for those that lugged similar generator and supplies is pretty much moot. It's included.

Except ProPower is quieter, zero fuss, cleaner and more efficient. And twice the output. :)

I just can't find a downside in my use case. Most amazing overall RV tow rig I've ever experienced.

Pretty nice Land Yacht when it's unhitched as well.

The more and more I drive this PB the more and more I love it and love the ride. This is the easiest driving truck I have ever owned. It is a total pleasure on the road.

Well, with only 12xx miles, I'm still in learning curve time and I agree on the highway but on the back roads, my 01 feels more nimble and sure footed.

I think Snake accurately describes it as a land yacht. Kinda reminds me of the 80s vintage Town Cars.

Could be lots of things. The 23 is taller, heavier, almost certainly with a higher center of gravity. Could be difference in tires. Maybe adding a rear sway bar would help.

Put it in Sport mode and turn off the traction control. She gets pretty nimble after that.

I knew that changed throttle response, activates 4A and adjusted shift points but didn't know it affected suspension.

Does it do the same in tow haul?

If you have CCD, Sport Mode has a different damping map.

But that rear Antisway bar is a much bigger improvement for curves and turn in.
If you are desiring a dose of "go-kart" chassis dynamics in an F150, tires, shocks, and more more front Antisway need attention too.

Gotta get some of the body roll out of it. :)

Wow, 5 pages already. Grateful for all the folks with towing experience on here. One more tip from having just used our 27ft bumper pull: Get yourself a longer hitch shank for your weight distribution hitch, long enough to let the tailgate down and still clear your trailer's jack or other obstructions on the yoke.

I used this one, which measures 13 inches on center to your pin.

Far be it from me to be the guy who says "Thats the way we used to do it. And we liked it!" :D

Buuuut, we tent camped before there was a such a thing as bottled water. We always brought some from home in canteens and water jugs but when that ran out ... We did decide to boil park water a couple times, more on a hunch than anything else.

When we got the class b, I was a stickler for sanitizing the tank but we drank from that too.

With the new trailer, I'll still be a stickler about sanitizing the tank but we'll be using the Clear2O system, with the pre-filter and the 1 micron cartridge.

I may add some sort of system under the kitchen sink too but in the interim, we're researching the filtering pitchers and just keep it in the fridge.
