So after taking truck to local dealer and explaining my problem they tired to force a update and the truck wouldn’t take it. Have another appointment to have APIM replaced on Saturday under my extended warranty. I’ve only had the truck about 3 weeks. Which was purchased from dealership 4 hrs away. My question is shouldn’t the dealership I purchased it from take care of this and me not have to pay my deductible for extended warranty?

The software on the truck is in no way covered by warranty. Unless your APIM is totally broken by some hardware issue. If it works, it isn't Ford problem that it is behind on software. Bright side if extended warranty covering replacement you won't be out the full cost on it. Very important that once it is replaced you get into the VIN lookup thread and have the people who know look at it. If dealer does it wrong you will run into even more issues trying to get truck updated.

Your software updates are absolute garbage and only exist to reduce warranty cost on your end.

Hi Mstephens20,
Sorry to cut in... This very thing happened to me with my 2021 XLT. Mine was stuck on 20262 Rev. 229 and the updates and schedule toggles were grayed out. If one Ford dealer refuses to help you, take your truck to a different dealer. That's what Ford recommended to me when I called them to complain about the first dealer. My APIM was replaced and now I'm getting OTA updates after @rugedraw and @Jesse-Infotainment hooked me up since the dealer didn't program my APIM correctly. Fortunately, APIM modules only take a few days for dealers to receive.
OldMan1962 thanks for the input…
Dealer was able to help me out with getting the APIM replaced. New APIM installed yesterday. I’m now on 21146 REV 145 but unsure what I need to do now. On the Ford Owner site when I put in my VIN it still has the red triangles. I don’t know if that matters but I read somewhere that they should have green check marks. I understand that some people will update the trucks themselves but I’m worried I just don’t understand everything completely and worried about spending the money and possibly making my situation worse. I don’t know if since APIM was replaced eventually, I’ll start receiving updates or if for whatever reasons I’m still stuck or what my next move should be. I just want to be as updated as I can be and should be.
any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

21146 REV 145 was the version that my truck was on once my APIM was replaced. I hate to throw a user's name out there but @rugedraw had me take a few pics of my truck's screen and he determined that the dealer didn't program the new APIM correctly for my truck. He asked another user to correct my issue and then my truck started receiving OTA updates. They came fast at first, 1 every 2 days, and then slowed down. I've had myself put on the waiting list for the loaner Mongoose though and I'm waiting patiently :)

Make sure you enable OTA updates and set an update schedule. Those toggles shouldn't be grayed out any longer.

OTA updates are now on and no longer grayed out , set an update schedule also.
Does day or time matter when setting a schedule?

All a matter of preference.

There are updates that will tell you not to use your truck while it is updating and some can be very large. Set it for a time you usually will not need the vehicle. If the vehicle sits for some time check your Ford Pass app and it will tell you when an update is coming.

I have gotten into the routine of seeing if it is a large update and throwing on the charger the day before, just to be safe.

Okay, what if you’ve done that and had it that way for a year and still no updates?
