I guess it depends on state, my 13 Lincoln slid into a curb and disconnected Lower ball joint and disconnected cv axle. Insurance wrote me a check for about 4k, did the work for 450 bucks and insurance didn’t go up a dime.

I’d go under the truck and double check you have no coolant leaks. If not, than drive it where you’ll get it fixed. Towing will be covered under insurance to your nearest dealership usually. May be different for yours! One of the most expensive parts will be the Freon for the ac system. The r-1234yf is very expensive.
Yeah I’ll definitely make sure I don’t risk damaging anything further. Still waiting on a call back to work out all the fine details. You’re right about the Freon I didn’t even think about that!

This is my first ever claim I’ve ever had on with any car insurance company I’ve dealt with so I’m hoping it’s not gonna be anything crazy. I’m located in Georgia and with it being an animal collision and not a vehicle to vehicle I’m hoping it’ll either go up very little or not at all but we’ll see. I’d love to fix it myself but I honestly don’t have the time.
Either way it will have to inspected by at least an insurance agent to get a Quote together. Im all for fixing it yourself as I do daily, but less stress and once you start taking stuff apart, you’ll realize you need more and more, sourcing part numbers isn’t always easy either. Your insurance should be easy to deal with and ask for a rental too. Should be covered up to a certain amount a day. Depending on staff and how many vehicles the shop has backlogged, it shouldn’t take a horrible amount of time.

You got very lucky. Make sure you get the lights replaced if they have scratches. They cost to much to have them quit 6 months down the road from delayed impact issue. If you don’t have led lights now is your chance to upgrade.

that’s my thoughts exactly and im currently waiting to get in touch with an adjuster. I’m anticipating on this being a 2-3 week ordeal. I know for a fact I don’t have any rental car insurance but I’ll still look into it

I guess it can always be worse right? And they’re already LED’s. I’ll try and take pictures of the damage they have and post them

First picture is the best I could get. The passenger side is very similar.

The headlights will likely be replaced also. When I crashed my 13 f150, they gave me a deal on my deductible if I kept the scratch on my headlight. 🤷🏻‍♂️ those headlights are expensive.

It depends on the state you live in and your insurance company. I hit a deer several years ago and my insurance did not go up.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
Get it repaired. It was head on. No frame damage. It will look better than new when you get it back because they will wash it. You just need to make sure everything works.

The first deer I ever killed was a young 6 point buck. This may sound crazy, but it was with my '67 Falcon at 70 mph. I never even knew Falcons attacked deer. It was totaled. Undriveable. Highway patrol called headquarters to find out what to do with the deer. Headquarters said to give it to the driver to dispose of.

The wrecker driver shows up and asks if he can have it. He said there was still backstrap and two good hams on it, plus it is fresh kill. What's not to like about that? He also said he had two Falcons in his good old boy back yard. He repaired it for the totaled payout and that car kept going. But it was head on front end damage.

I bet you come out of this fine.

Yeah unfortunately mine is/was definitely leaking. Not like pouring out fluids leaking but it’s definitely going to need a replacement. Good luck with your repair!

I appreciate everyone’s insight to this so far! I’ll do my best to post updates about all this whenever something happens. For now I’m driving my grandparents mint 2000 single cab Silverado with only 65,000 miles so things aren’t too bad all in all.

All the best part is you stayed on the road and the airbags didn’t deploy. There are so many people here in Northern Indiana where we’re at, which is rural 2 lane roads. Quite a few people swerve to miss a deer and hit a tree or roll a truck in the ditch. Others have airbags deployed when they hit the deer then they can’t see what the hell is going on and they hit a tree afterwards.

Your rate sucks. You’re in this situation but sadly it does happen. The best part about all this is you didn’t get banged up and the truck can be fixed.
