yep, the way the deal goes is some idiot set the gun to seven or whatever. Another guy not paying attention. Well, at least your drain plug didn’t fall out or you didn’t get two gaskets with the oil filter install

Long time browser of this forum but glad this thread popped up. I also just recently had my dealer do an oil change and my dipstick is reading high like @SemperVee My dealer does complimentary pick up and delivery
When I noticed it was overfilled I rechecked the paperwork that was given to me and it states they put in 10w-20 when my oil cap says 10w-30.

I've also noticed my Trip Mpg has gone down about .6 or so mpg

I’ve never heard of 10w20 oil,……..that’s a new one.
Mileage drop could be from the crank whipping the oil in the pan. That’s not good. How far past the mark on the dipstick is the level?

There is a 10w-20 oil, but it is used in motorcycle suspension forks and as a heavy duty transmission oil, so most likely a typo as I doubt a dealership would have it on hand. I had to look it up myself as I had never heard of it either.

well, yes, I know about fork oil, but I guess I just worded that poorly. Certainly most likely a typo but things add up. That typo in the fact that the quantity was over serviced shows there is a collective lack of attention to detail.

Yup typo. 5w-30 is what’s supposed to be put in it. Dealer paperwork say 5w-20 was put in
Sorry for the confusion. It was a bit from the time I looked at paperwork and making the post

Don’t those 5.0’s need to run at 7000rpm to make decent power? Perhaps a low detergent oil to minimize frothing and foaming. Sea Doo makes a good one ?
Now now, don't go making fun of those poor misguided souls who still belong to the" there is no replacement for displacement " group! They will never drink from the well of bottomless torque!
In all seriousness , the fact that the dealership finally admitted that they intercoursed the canine just proves that we are all human and we all make mistakes. However, the fact remains that the oil was overfilled and while in everyday driving may not create a problem, simply parking on a steep incline may cause enough oil to slosh forward/ backward in the pan to cause a problem.
