Fingers crossed the new headlights (regular and LED) are a big improvement over the prior generation! This is one area Ford has to have known needed work. A lot of work...

Interesting, never looked this up but headlights are pretty much the only reason the f150 is not a top safety pick in the 2020. I'm thinking there is a good chance of improvement looking at the explorer redesign in 2020(5th vs 6th) and using similar LED headlights with and without curve. I'd expect similar results in the new 21 150 although not identical as the F150 stacks the LED projectors vertically instead of horizontal on the explore.

Interesting difference in the explorer curve adaptive lights vs non where the adaptive lights do better at wider illumination and cornering(as expected) but the non adaptive do better down range on a straight road.

My Wife's 2019 Subaru Ascent Limited has completely spoiled me in regards to headlights. They are fantastic! After experiencing great headlights I could never go back, so a 2020 F150 was off the table. Really hoping the 2021 XLT 302A LED's will be good.

On a side note, all 2021 Subaru's include their dynamic LED headlights. I look forward to the day Ford and others follow suit and quit making good visibility a "premium" upgrade.

The LED headlamps on my new XLT are a big improvement over the halogen lamps on my former 2018. I was pleasantly surprised on my first drive in the dark. They are brighter, crisper and have a very nicely defined beam pattern and excellent light distribution. What one would expect from LED lamps.

XLT 300, 301, or 302A
302 starts the LED thing
300 and 301 are still halogen

Mine is 302A.
I ordered a 301A
The truck really only needs to see as good as My old Chevy with sealed beams.
I seldom use high beams and watch out far beyond the lights for sparkly eyeballs that will indicate deer, racoons, opossom and such critters.
Them damn hogs just pop up on you.
I'm not in the habit of overdriving my lights out in the boonies, and once I get on a hiway, not really needed with other traffic all around.

I was daily driving a 2017 MKZ with all of the bells and whistles from a comfort and safety perspective, and have a 2011 XTL SCREW F-150. The reason I am consolidating the two is because all of the tech, safety, and convenience features of that Lincoln Reserve are now in the 502A trim, except the massaging seats that I never used because they are more of a novel conversation piece than an effective massage. Everything from CoPilot (assist and active 360 on mine) to the headlights is an improvement and a step in the right direction. If it can save you from one accident, especially hitting a pedestrian, it is worth it and I will gladly pay for that piece of mind. The adaptive lights you barely notice them when they are working, but the key is that they are working to better illuminate the road. I also love the auto dimming hi-beams. I am really looking forward to it smashing my 2011 XLT into that MKZ in the for of this Lariat.
