I need to go do that so I can read up on it. What happened to the good Ole days where you got a physical book. I'd love to have a book .
You can but a print copy. Search the threads here for the link. I'm like you and bought a print copy.

Using Hill Descent when traversing a rutted, boulder ridden, heavily wooded steep downhill off-road trail gives you the ability to focus on steering around obstacles without having to concern yourself with speed.

I also use it when going down a twisty, winding street with blind corners while towing my trailer.
Nevermind, I found it.

"

Setting the Hill Descent Speed

To increase or decrease the descent speed, press the accelerator or brake pedal, or use the SET + and SET - buttons on the steering wheel. Once you reach the preferred speed remove your feet from the pedals.

How do you use it? I tried it, it does hold my speed at around 2mph when activated. I know some vehicle you can use the cruise control button to set a speed. can the F150 do that? I don't see it being displayed anywhere.

Hill Descent Control is a helpful tool when descending particularly steep grades, especially with a load or towing. It can be activated at any point under 20 MPH. At whatever speed you engage HDC, that is the speed that the truck will maintain going down the hill. In a weird sort of way, it is like a cruise control for braking - but understand that is just an expression, trying to describe the function - there is NO actual connection between HDC and cruise control. Based on my use of it, I also don't see any connection to engine braking. It appears to me that it is the computer activating the brakes, as needed, to descend the hill at the selected speed.
This is the info I need, thanks. So, there's no way to adjust the speed on the fly? I know some other vehicle can adjust speed using cruise control buttons, but my 24 FX4 doesn't seem to do that, or at least not displaying it on the instrument.

I've used it frequently off-road, going down very steep and rocky terrain where 2-4mph is the best speed to navigate obstacles. I love being able to adjust the speed by 1mph increments on the steering wheel and just focus on the line I'm taking. It's the closest thing I can get that compares to my old diesel excursion 4L and 1st gear. I'd imagine its using a ton of braking to accomplish this rather than all gearing, but it works!

I believe the original concept and primary purpose behind HDC was to be an aid for off-road use, as other posts have indicated. The description of use that I offered was an alternative, ON-road (non-off-road) use, which was a more common use for me. I live in a very hilly area, and I tow far more often than I find myself going off-roading, so that application description was centered on my use of HDC.
