Has anyone else had this issue?...This morning I remote started my 2021 Powerboost as usual. The temperature outside was in the low 30s. When I got in and started driving I immediately noticed a lack of power then got a warning to pull over safely. Once in park it gave me the battery warning. and would not start. 2 hours later when I was about to get a tow truck to the dealer I tried to start it and it started right up and the status alert is gone. The dealer can't check it until after the holiday so I don't know if I should treat it as a fluke and drive as normal or park it until the dealer can test it. Thoughts?

Hi there, John. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into things on my end.

I also have Ford Escape Hybrid from the 06 era. I have occasionally had something like that happen when I strated it up in colder weather (eg 0ºF). What I learned was when it's that cold start the engine and allow it to run some 5 to 10 minutes before heading out.

This just happened to my truck, 1900 miles. Towed in and they can't find anything wrong with it. All codes are gone. Did they find anything with yours?

In my case with the Escape Hybrid, I conlcuded that the thick oil allowed a low pressure to be seen by the engine/computer. Letting it idle like I mentioned allows the oil to warm up enough so that it doesn't give that false reading......

The truck actually reset itself a few hours later. I didn't take it in, assuming there would be no conclusions. I opt to believe the above post from Bill and will always take care to let the ICE fire up and pump some oil before driving off.

I have had basically the same issue. Brought my truck into the dealership for a fault in the high voltage system. They couldn't fix it and contacted the engineers who gave them stuff to try...3-4 tries later and they called in a field engineer. They said to replace the hybrid battery which has been order but is on backorder. They told me I could take it home because it's still good to drive. Next morning wouldn't start because of the weather that was all week. That's also when the stop safely now started showing up.

Finally I had it towed back to the dealer and they are giving me a loaner on Monday.

Not sure if it is the battery but it seems like it could be more.

If this is close to what others have I will update when j know more.

Has the pull over message ever popped up after truck was warm and driving normally?

No, since the stop slowly has shown up she doesn't even start.
Damn I’m sorry. I’m feeling pretty lucky now.

I just had this happen to my 2022 F-150 Powerboost yesterday morning. It wasn't all that cold, in the mid 40s. I was low on fuel and parked on an incline pointed downhill. It was remote started, came out to the truck about 10 minutes later and it wouldn't turn on. The start button just kept blinking and gave me the stop safely now message.

About 20 minutes later I tried again and it started up, headed to the gas station to fill up thinking that might be what it was. When I got back in the truck after refueling, it gave me two errors (powertrain malfunction and trailer brake controller failure) and the service now light (wrench symbol) was lit. After about a minute on my way home the wrench light went out and hasn't come back after driving the truck two more times for a total of about 20 miles.

I'm taking it in to the dealer tomorrow to get it looked at, truck only has 1,000 miles on it.

Exact same thing happened to me last week, 6500 miles on truck. I was on a 3000 mi road trip and it happened to me passing through Phoenix, Az. 103 deg outside on a full tank, so you can rule cold weather and empty fuel load. Left me stranded in an ATM drive thru for 4.5 hours waiting for a tow truck. Of note you can't get it out of park when this happens. There is a special manual over ride lever under the dash to be able to tow it, thankfully the electronic owners manual still worked. Mine would never let me re start it again. Dealer said it was a faulty 12v battery. Replaced it and said it drives fine now. I pick it up in a few days as I had to leave the truck there and fly home. Pretty concerning as I could have very well been 150 miles from nowhere on BLM land when this happened. So I guess I'll be carrying a spare battery with me. Also just ordered the Forscan to hopefully be able to clear codes at dealer level to get me back to civilization. Pretty bummed with the PowerBoost so far. I've had it 4 months and its been in the shop 3 times for electrical issues.

That's a little concerning I live south of Phoenix and was thinking I won't have to deal with all the cold weather issues I've been reading about. What dealer did you take it to and did Ford reimburse you for you plane ticket also which battery was it under the seat or under the hood?

San Tan Ford in Gilbert. He said it was the regular battery, so I am assuming it's the one under the hood. When I go pick it up I will post back if it was otherwise. I did not attempt to talk about plane tickets, but he did offer a rental car for in town use only. I did not mention previously, but when I was waiting 4 hours for the tow truck I uber'd to Autozone and rented a code reader. Clearing the code at the user level did not fix the problem. Hopefully the Forscan will do better. I went out and got a 160$ windows computer just to keep in the truck to run the dealer level program. Lol. Pretty soon I am going to have to pull a trailer just for all the spare parts to keep me going in the back country.... that was not in the sales pitch.
