Hi Everyone,

Looking to purchase my first f-150... likely going to be a factory order; but having trouble deciding / getting frustrated with Ford's seemingly restrictive combinations.

The common:
Supercrew, 4x4, v8, short box. Moonroof. I like being "future proof" so will opt for the active 2.0 if on the lariat. From a colour standpoint, #1 choice would be Antimatter Blue, #2 choice would be Atlas Blue. The majority of my driving is a 2-hour highway, so interior comfort is very important. My vision for the truck would probably be to lower it, if anything. I'm not going offroad, but do have an occasional parking garage to go into.

Lariat Points:
- I HATE chrome, so would need to be in the sport appearance package, which means no Antimatter Blue.
- I dislike the brown/red interior accent on the Lariat Sport... and feel that it is certainly going to clash pretty bad with an Atlas Blue Truck.

Platinum Points:
- No Atlas Blue
- Chrome Overload
- Power Running Boards which make a very annoying sound, are a trip hazard, something to break, and are likely unnecessary especially if I lower the truck.
- Platinum Interior is seemingly a lot nicer
- Massaging seats would be nice

Any suggestions for directions on which way to go? Are the platinum seats structually any different than the lariat? or just a nicer leather?

I test drove a $74K Lariat and ordered/purchased a $74K Platinum (I didn't pay that for it). For me it came down to one thing, the interior. I thought the interior on the platinum just looked and felt way nicer then the lariat it looked like a $74K truck interior YMMV

Lariat.

I hate Chrome too and that's why I bought Lariat with Sports Package.
Even more than just chrome, I really, REALLY don't like the Platinum and Limited chrome tailgate.

You are overlooking the black accent packages on Lariat and Platinum that are available for 2022 (not on the 2021 configurator).

i was in the same boat, I hate all the chrome and had ordered a Platty with BAP. However, I really didn't want to pay for 4X4 in order to get it. Ended up changing my order to a Lariat Sport so I could get it in 4 X 2.

Good point -- definitely not a fan of the grille on the BAP... but as far as things to change go, that would theoretically be the easiest.

Biggest problem there is that I would really like the truck by ~May, and as I understand we're not going to see them until the end of summer.

I guess price is also a consideration.... in Canadian $...

If I do a Lariat, v8, 502a, Active 2.0, 2kw pro power, spray in bed, power tailgate, moonroof, wheel well liner, B&O unleashed.... comes to $79.9k

If I do a platinum, v8, 701a, 2kw pro power, spray in bed, moonroof, wheel well liner, comes to $88.1k.

For that $8000... I seemingly get running boards that I don't want, chrome that I don't want... but an interior that's seemingly much nicer.

I ordered my 502A Lariat BAP on December 31st, it’s scheduled for the week of March 7th. Now there may be material hold or chip issues at that point, but I expect to see it in early spring. I ordered it thinking the same thing, expecting to get it in August or September. Antimatter Blue Platinum BAP looks fantastic IMP, I would have ordered Antimatter Blue if it came on the Lariat BAP.

I could’ve gone either way but went with a 502a Lariat. To me, there are too many Platinum badges on that trim, though the interior and seats are nicer. Personally I like the look of Carbonized + chrome + PVD wheels, which is what I have. Apples to apples I think the Platinum is about $3k more.

The lariat sport interior in my 502a is very nice. The colors work well imo. Ppl can’t believe how nice it is when they get in.

If you hate chrome this is the way to go

Can anyone advise if the platinum seats are structurally, or comfort-wise different than the lariat sport?

I am going to drive a lariat today, but nobody local seems to have a platinum in stock.

I test drove a lariat and bought a platinum I didn't notice any difference in ride/ comfort YMMV. I think the platinum interior looked nicer and the trucks were both $74K with the lariat stickering $200 more.

I test drove a lariat and platinum back to back and ended up buying a platinum. The cost difference was nominal and the seats are much nicer comfort wise. On long trips the massage feature is very welcome. The test drives weren't your usual 10 min round the block, I had each truck for approx 1 hr. Good luck
