Have you pm'ed with Jesse, or livingitup about this those guys may have some good ideas as far as diagnosis of the problem. This could be totally software related. Before you start throwing money at it for parts. I would check with the gurus on this. Could be as simple as a forscan change. But I not sure, this is where I would start.
Yes, Jesse thought it could be either a wiring issue since it is both lights or the HCM. I would like very much NOT have to deal with wiring issues!

Givin that, I wouldn't even no were to start. Since it was like this since new. I would go with the assumption that the correct harness was installed. And from there I would start checking all of the connections and connectors to make sure there fully engaged and there's no problem with the pins and no moisture in them. Man this is a tough one, I feel for you.

The strange thing is it only does it when remote started. If I manually start it, they do the dance and are aimed right every time. The problem has gone from occasional to constant now so it's time to figure it out. Simply turning the ignition off and back on always fixes the problem for some reason. Today I finally had the "Check headlamps" message pop up on the dash so something has been acknowledged as failed for once.

Hmmmmmm

If everything works properly when you start it normally, wouldn't that indicate that the module itself and the wiring harnesses are physically sound?
If remote start experiences issues that normal start doesn't, I would have to believe it's a software anomaly.
Remote start, by its very nature, is an intentionally software-gimped running condition. Presenting opportunities for unintended consequences?

I too, wouldn't know where to start, given the unique circumstances.

I can stand in front of the truck and use the remote start while watching the low beam headlight assemblies and they do the dance while off but the passenger side does not always return to the normal position like the driver side. It seems like the software would be a potential problem but why would it not be a widespread problem if that's what's causing it? The module has been updated but this has been an issue before that update also. Once I receive the manual, I will start with checking all the plugs associated for a loose connection first to rule that out since the problem has become worse over time. I just wish the dealership would provide a loaner and figure this out instead of leaving me with nothing to drive for an extended period of time.

Without going on a rant, I figure the odds of the dealership figuring it out is extremely optimistic. And I'd be irritated as each day went by with the only progress being they are waiting to hear back from Ford.

And I bet if we could scan every truck similarly equipped, your truck is NOT the only one doing this.

Did you ever find out what module was wrong with your headlights
I replaced the HCM module a while back but it had no effect on the problem. I have been unable to get it into Ford still because they are unwilling to provide a service loaner while they have my truck. Does your truck have the same problem?

yes funny thing when I FIRST start the truck up . the headlights which are not on. in the daytime move up and down For a second or two which I don't think that is normal Either . I did not go to the dealer for this issue yet .Just checking if it was an easy fix

I wish it was because I despise everything about Fords service departments and would rather just pay to fix it myself than have them touch my truck.

I did get the codes and they point to something software related because both headlights can't have the exact same problem yet act perfectly normal if the truck is not remote started.

Any luck with this? I have a 23 XLT upgraded to projectors with HCM and intermittently get the "Check Headlamp System" message with the same codes. If I remove and replace negative battery cable it resets (maybe all I needed to do was open and close hood?) Wondering if anyone has a permanent solution yet.
