H8 Battery Upgrade Questions

I have an Odyssey H8 battery ready to be installed and wanted to confirm the steps in order to get the most life out of this thing. So far from my reading on this forum the battery should fit no problem in my non-PB truck and once installed the BMS system should be reset. My main question is if the ForScan SOC changes are necessary? I have a 2024 truck and to my understanding the BMS sensor is the updated part (confirmed via build date on sensor).

I swapped mine to a H8 and only did a BMS reset. I do not have FORSCAN. I haven't had any issues. I did order a larger battery wrap from a link somewhere in this forum.

Charge your new battery to 100% before install and then reset the BMS. FWIW, After a few months I set my SOC to 90% and suddenly started getting OTA updates.

How did you do the BMS Reset without Forscan?

From the Googles: To manually reset the F-150 BMS,
turn the ignition to the "on" position without starting the engine. Then, quickly flash the high beams five times, followed by pressing the brake pedal three times. The battery light on the dash should flash three times to confirm the reset is complete.

BMS they say will also reset after 8 hours of non use after battery install. Who knows tho. I tried the light flash method it didn’t work so I used forscan.

The BMS won’t reset after 8 hrs - it will learn the battery state of charge that way though. The full BMS reset sets the battery age to 0 days which affects its charging scheme to the new battery vice how it handled the old one.
