So that clears up how the louvers mount on each end into a round receiver hole. But it looks like for light clearance reasons you have to cut out some of the plastic structure?

Has anyone been able to determine how much cooler the engine coolant is during towing without the louvers or at least a majority removed? Extended warm times are not that much of a concern. I have the engine block heater for the really cold days. I do not need to remove all of them, but I really would like this truck to run cooler when working hard.

Pretty sure they are wide open before the engine coolant temps are a problem.
Or put another way, the 3.5 Ecoboost cooling limits under heavy load aren't the fault of properly functioning louvers.
But I wouldn't blame anyone for removing them to know that for sure.

Soooo, on the 2024 PB, disconnecting the IC shutters triggers a CEL, that's a pain.
In other news, the Injen IC fits perfectly, as does the Mishmoto license bracket relocate.

Is this with the shutter motor unplugged, or with the shutter slats removed and the motor plugged in?

Unplugged.

Never been an issue on my numerous previous trucks though.

Gonna try removing the slats I suppose.

Just for reference, plugged in with the slats removed isn't setting a CEL on my 2021 3.5EB

It didn't unplugged on my 2019, 2020 or 2022.....
Only the diesels used to cause a CEL.

Do you have a picture of which slats you removed? For 2024, it has to self calibrate and pass or I will see a CEL even if the actuator is connected.

I can grab some better pictures when I get home, but I removed the entire slat assembly from the lower grill shutter and left the motor bolted to the side of the shutter assembly. Right now my lower grill shutter is just acting as an air duct for my intercooler. My truck is a 2021 3.5EB and I have no idea if this would work for other model years or engines.

It isn't obvious in the photos, but I had to trim the grill shutter frame back about 1/2" for extra clearance. Removing the shutter slats and the extension that clips onto the frame didn't give me enough room to fit the CVF Titan V2.

Should be able to forscan that out. Alternatively if you remove the slats and leave it plugged in, it's a silent DTC. Or you can remove upper and lower slats leaving the middle one and it's happy.

If someone is aware of a Forscan hack, I’d be surprised as this has been going on for six years with the diesel F150’s, just now on 2024 PB’s - but I’m open to it for sure…. But I looked and can’t find anything other than PCM controlling those, which isn’t accessible through Forscan.

But I think you’re missing my point, the shutter DTC’s are no longer silent or invisible. It’s either an end limit incorrect or disconnected DTC.

I suppose I could try dismantling them and see if it makes a difference, but if it doesn’t, then I have dismantled shutters in a climate in -30 regularly in the winter…. With a high efficiency intercooler, not a good idea.
