Grill Active Shutter - Removing Fins?

I tore out the lower ones from the front of the truck just reaching in (wear gloves). Just warped them enough until they popped out of their holes. Not sure if the upper ones have the little combiner arm that syncs them up, I popped it off first on the intercooler ones.

Perfect I will keep the lower ones in mind if I need to later down the line! As for the upper ones, that's my problem with this one.

I went back and looked at a few posts, there are at least 4 or 5 who have done it, none of them have mentioned a CEL, but that doesn't mean anything.

Thanks for checking! Perfect no CEL. Did they explain how they remove the row?

Perfect thank you! Question, I do see the servo there. Now is it me or does the third row possibly that I need to remove, is connected to that servo?! Or is it just the first 2 top rows? ?

Just a visual GUESS.
But it appears every louver plays an equal role in travel limiting the turn of the louvers. And on both ends as well?
On the outside end, the round extruding pin would hit the flat shoulder of the fixed rail.
On the inside end it looks like that tab would do something similar against a flat spot too?

That makes a lot more sense! It looks like each fin is individually slotted in which is making this a win! However, I did look at Baja Design's led bar installation sheet for the raptor version, seems like it's just held on with tabs. Easy enough to remove! See below

Removing louvers is probably easier than removing the whole grill/louver assembly was. Although to be honest, it wasn't difficult. Just systematic and soft hands. Forcing nothing.

100% I agree with you there, keeping it as much as OEM as possible without messing with the truck's operation too much. Honestly, relieved that it's just only to remove the fins off the tabs is definitely a win!

If you have a 3.5/2.7, the fins on the intercooler make no sense. I want that thing as cool as possible at all times! The one on the rad makes sense to help warmup and regular driving, particularly in winter.

It's boost season after all. Let the intercooler breathe in that nice cold goodness

Where I agree with you for the intercooler, yes. I love it being unrestricted and those fine to remove is extremely easy without removing the bumper. The rad, yes I agree with that too; which is why I’d rather remove one row of fins instead of the whole thing. One row of fins removal won’t effect it too much.
