I describe it as if a partial curtain is being placed in front of the projector.
Of course it's unlikely that is the accurate description of whatever the mechanism in play is. But beam-shaping is a cool term to substitute. I think that's a legitimate description of what I witness with the human eye.

Seems to me like there are 3 zones (for a two lane road).
1. Off the roadway to the left
2. On the roadway (both lanes)
3. Off the roadway to the right.

Any 3 of them in any combination will turn off when the front facing cameras see a vehicle coming at you.

I'll have to reference back to this thread when I attempt the GFHL again. I had swept through the changes from the 21-23 doc Livnitup has up and noticed it would ramp up but that was about all I could see, the dip to low behaved almost exactly like auto-highbeam. It could be in my understanding of how these work as well. I need to find a good lesson on hex code

If someone wants to educate an idiot, what exactly are the LED projectors in these vehicles capable of when it's working properly? Are they actually beam shaping on high? I'm wondering if I'm not seeing it because I don't fully understand the behavior I should be seeing. Thanks!

At this point, I've dropped the as built back in when it didn't appear to be working properly and in a vain hope to get off 6.2.0 - Don't say it. I know it won't help.
This Video from Ford shows how they are supposed to work

Thank you. I like beam shaping as well! Though I evidently borked my rain sensing wipers when I turned the GFHL back off ? which is my first mistake playing with forscan so it’s actually kind of exciting ?

@mdn14 & @Micho523 thank you as well!

So I just went for a drive, paying close attention to GFHB behavior. Here’s how mine is currently working.
High beam off to on, no ramp.
High beam on to off, no ramp.
High beam on, adjusting for traffic, road signs, etc, ramps as normal.

Maybe this is completely normal? Maybe new “normal” behavior? Bottom line, for my truck at least they still work.

Right now that is the "new" normal, maybe the permanent new normal.

The fact they are adjusting and ramping for the adjust indicates they are "working" again. Mine were doing all kinds of weird thing initially, but mostly acting like individual auto highbeams. I have an excellent test track / road near the house to evaluate it doing its thing.

I have to recheck the AA. I don't remember seeing that change. Stand by.....
Thank you for catching my error! I did not do the AA in the first group of 706-30-01

I now have it changed and I'm going for a dark ride. I will see if I can confirm the findings.

Just got back from my drive and I had the same results as noted above. They are working, but if this is the new normal I don't like it. I really did like the ramping up to high and down. Guess I'll learn to live with it.

I agree with a previous post. Any Canadian F150 owner that has glare free, I would love to see your as built for IPMA and HCM.

Until they send it OTA I won't have it on my Canadian build. Not giving Ford money for FDRS in middle of winter. I'll keep my ass in the house. ?

I made the change on mine today and went out tonight. The lights do ramp up as needed. Looks like before.

i know Atlantic beach florida well,
i bet the system is overworked from all the lights (street, businesses and cars) ?
take a run over the dames point bridge at O dark thirty
not for the light check...but to get to the top from st. johns at around 100. i loved that place
no cops at start and fly to the top, stop at the top and feel the bridge sway

anyway, i bet its hard to find a real dark area in your neck of the woods, might have to go up A1A to fernadina from the ferry boat at mayport, drive that dark 2 lane

but yes a curtain or beam shaping is a darn good description of what i get here in the darkness of north east texas

full spread across, both lanes to the ditch areas for a normal 2 lane road with a full emergency lane on each side
if a vehicle is coming at me, the left curtian usually dims pretty much at the front glass of the vehicle and leaves a bright area to the side towards the ditch, then ramps back up to full bright after they pass, still real smooth vice ON now like the auto brights would do.

i have also seen if a vehicle is in front of me and say about 500 feet ahead, they will ramp up to bright, but only to the sides and what looks like lower
i have a pic from last feb.. you can see its bright, up to the vehicle , but not past

i sure hope the new updates dont screw up this great feature of the glare free.

That’s basically the route I took. A1A to the ferry and back.

After the update to IPMA. Before the update, they were working normal. Dim to full bright and back down.
