First post! I have decided to order a 2 wheel drive 2024 6.5 XL-150 to replace the Honda I have drove since 2015. I need a truck with a tow hitch to haul a scooter I'll definitely need in the next few years and the basic XL configuration for the 2024 is EXACTLY what I want.
I first started looking at the Ford after seeing the 2023 ' XL-Sleeper' videos with the Roush super charger and was going to order one until I seen the 2024 basic truck and decided to go with it instead.
I bought a new 1995 XL-150 Super cab and loved it then went to a 4×4 SUV for a few years then to a 2006 SRT-10 Quad cab I kept for 3 years..Now a 2015 Honda Fit I bought new and still have UNTIL the new truck get home!
I'm trying to figure out the plans and timing for mod's and in what order I can pay for them. Super charger got pushed further down the road after tires and wheels, ceramic and PPF and side exhaust. My brother says it is a big mistake not to get a Super cab or Crew cab but the kids are grown wife passed and I hardly even have the dog in the car lolol! I plan to make this one the last new one and will get exactly what I want and need. I forgot just how much fun researching and planning for a new one can be!

My 1995 I called the "XL Motel" and during the hurricanes here in Florida when power was out the wife and I had air conditioning and a inverter ran my C-Pap..I just don't want to drive a 4 door and because of the light weight of the short bed single cab the 302 will push it good until the Roush goes in.

The one thing I wasn’t sure if I’d regret getting with my 24 RCSB order as well. But I don’t have a use for 5/6 seats in a vehicle (I rarely have any passengers and usually only 1 when I do). I’d rather have the shorter wheelbase anyway.
I’m already planning some little upgrades once it comes in: leather steering wheel, adjustable lumbar support, carpet flooring, level and 33” AT tires.

I don’t extra passengers very often at all.
Mostly just me and the coffee cups.
Extended cab has been my choice for ‘not closed in” feeling.
164” wb for the smooth ride
4x4 to get out of my back yard (funny how it’s not needed to GO back there)
V8 because-Well, because.

Yes love the single cabs. Once you get started you can’t stop modding. You will get a lot of looks and compliments because you just don’t see them like this anymore. The wait is the worst. All so they wait till they have a good run of single cabs before they buildem.

I'd love a RCSB, but four grandkids and wife and I use it to travel. She likes riding up higher in thr truck.
Nothing wrong with an XL...mine was an STX because I didn't want chrome.

I was first intrigued by the 'sleeper' concept and of course 705 horsepower and 639 tq that the Rousch delivers. After enjoying the 2006 SRT-10 at 500 plus HP and all the options that that truck came with it was a big letdown going to a small SUV. My wife (KathyJo and the Bluzification band then latter Katillac Jack) had a 5-7 piece classic rock project from 2002 till Covid killed the Band then her from a Covid booster we needed at a minimum a full size truck or SUV.. But now it's just me 99% of the time in whatever vehicle I choose to get. I'm over 4×4 fever and live in Florida so snow is not a issue so a single cab works well in my lifestyle. Because I will need a scooter in the next few years the standard tow hitch is needed to haul that but the new 2024 XL is everything I want in a truck!
I don't care about chrome and most of options higher trims have now that the XL gets the bigger screen and all that comes along with that it works very well for my needs. Side exhaust, much better tires and 18" possibly 20" wheels and a few other mods will be less than the cost of a higher trim.
Invoice on the basic truck is..get this..$37,000.00!!

Yep that's KathyJo the love of my life..I'm far left playing harp. Married for 42 years sharing the stage for over half of that together was flat out awesome! We made a original CD in 2006 and came SO close to being a regional touring act. Lots of talent at that level and KathyJo had it. Always a great band too. #
uckin Covid.. And the vaccine too.
Im still doing my due diligence and research for the truck. I looked at 2023 XL's tonight and very very few 5.O optioned trucks are out there. None are discounted at all..at least by Florida dealers. I looked into the difference between identical SC and Super cabs for the 2024 and it's about $7,000.00. Not worth it to me at all. That seven grand would pay for a max no deductible warranty, Pro ceramic PPF and detail , Tires and wheels carpet exhaust and leather skins for the seat. Or perhaps 3/4 of a Roush ...

After pricing out payment and insurance for the new truck ($40,000.00 @60 months 6.3%) and insurance I wonder just how in the world folks can afford 50 60 70 grand or even far more to buy a fancy new one! The higher interest rates make a huge difference in payment. The extra 7 grand for a Super cab or twice that for a higher trim seems..not worth it to me.
Searching for a 2023 to save is a bust too. I know I would always regret having a smaller screen and the refresh looks so much better especially in a XL! With a few basic mod's that are not too expensive I can make a XL look like a limited edition modern 'Lighting' (1999-2004 era) and perform better than that even before adding a supercharger. I have decided to get a Ford extended warranty with a zero deductible and loaner so if all the new tech or mechanical problems happen it won't be MY problem!

In "my" opinion, the F150 XL is BY FAR the most bang for the buck on the market today!

I had enough saved up to get a pretty well optioned "Extra" or "Crew" cab but I had my heart set on a RCSB and in the middle of the Covid "response" disaster... NOBODY HAD ANY trucks on the lot.

NONE! Forget about a Regular Cab Short Bed!

So I ordered a Fully Loaded XLT at 0% and waited NINE MONTHS for them to build it.

And as much as I do enjoy all the cool bells & whistles, if I were doing it today... I would be driving the same truck YOU have and would be just as happy!

Just take a look around you while driving down the road. Look at ALL the F150s from years gone by dating all the way back to the 60's & 70's and they're STILL "on the road"!

NO! ... you scored an American ledged and every time you open the door you are reminded of that.

HAVE FUN! Paint "your" masterpiece on the blank canvass you bought and you'll never regret it.
