Have heard from some friends/ owners of various years that starting in 2022 Ford tracks all data in your vehicle. Read in my 2024 owners manual that track analytics all the time. They see everything we do to it via FORScan. Potential warranty voided was what I was told from a Ford Tech of many years. Have only had my truck for about 8 weeks and 900 miles. Should I be concerned? Thanks for all the feedback!

Can they see it? Absolutely. The as-built data on fords website has changed sometime between when I made the changes and now and reflect the changes I’ve made.

but I don’t think that they care, and the dealers definitely don’t.

worst case scenario you reload your unmodified backups (you made those right?) before you take it in for service.

Forscan only enables.. items already in the load
Forscan dors not change drive train or engine parameters so nothing to worry about
Rumors are just that
If a dealer downloads your as built that reflect forscan changes. That's what it is..they won't look for original

My best friend is the head tech at my local ford garage , he uses forscan on the daily along with FDRS so i only see an issue if you really mess something up , even then they can probably make you pay for re-programming but void your warranty , i don't see it .......

So, I bought my 2023 Tremor 402a on Valentine’s Day then a month later brought it back in for installing some ford accessories. I cordially complained about the equalization on the Bose sound system and asked if there was anything they or I could do about it. The accessories-service advisor asked me if I heard of Forscan as there wasn’t (at the time) an update fix. He suggested that I use Forscan to modify DSP pids to rectify my issue. They wouldn’t deny a warranty claim other than modifications to the PCM. To make a long story short; I did and it worked.

The as built file in these truck's is a file that is "live" and changes all of the time. Simply setting a preset radio station or changing settings in SYNC will change the as built. If you receive an OTA update it will not only update software but also change as built settings to enable the features of the new software, this is also true for updates made with FDRS. After an update or FDRS session the new as built will emeditly be stored to the Ford cloud. If you make changes in Forscan these changes will eventually be propagated to th cloud as well, although not as quickly but at least once a month the cloud queries the truck and uploads the as built in its current state. The only way a dealer would be able to detect changes is if the mechanic notices things that are different from factory, such as Bambi mode or numeric readouts under the gauges, but the tech has to be sharp to notice these things. Other than that there's no way to "see" changes made in Forscan.

The fact that anyone can pay $50 and download directly from the FDRS mothership should mean something. If it was causing warranty issues we wouldn’t have access to that, at least during the warranty period.

The federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (MMWA) prohibits a manufacturer from 'voiding a warranty' because of 'unauthorized' mods or installation of 'unauthorized' parts. Whether or not a manufacturer or dealer detects those things has no bearing.

MMWA does allow a manufacturer to decline warranty coverage, but only to the extent that an otherwise eligible part failed due to the 'unauthorized' mod. Even IF that occurs, all other warranty coverage remains intact for parts not affected by the mod.

Be selective and careful with FORScan and you'll never have any problem (the chances of a FORScan mod causing a failure are extremely low when used properly).

Yeah, some unscrupulous dealers will try to abuse you in this regard. Just mention the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act by name and 'call BS", they'll usually grumble but crumble and do what they are supposed to do. Worst case, move to a dealer that understands your rights and their obligations (those do exist).

so does mine
service manager uses it to fix stuff that sometimes eludes the big brains at ford
he is a proponent to using it and save money

I'm sceptical that disabling double-honk will void my warranty on the CDF drum. It's a risk I'm going to have to live with.

By the way, have you noticed what the likelihood is of a Ford tech, or even a field service engineer, knowing to, and then how, to sift through your Asbuilt and analyzing what's up?

If they were that savvy, they'd be much more competent and half the service complaints would dissappear. I WANT that tech working on my vehicle.

if I were Ford, I would be rolling up the Brinks truck to do whatever it takes to hire @Jesse-Infotainment but their loss is our gain (and I can say that from experience!)
