That note is from the last gen trucks. The 3.5EB in the powerboost has a metal drain plug and not the yellow plastic plug

Just for reference for anyone else.

Got back from my business trip today and was able to get under my truck to check. The 2022 2.7EB still has this yellow drain plug.

I ordered the UPR Drain Valve as the EZ Valve or Fumoto will not work with the 2.7. The UPR has the advantage of having the magnet in addition to the usual other features of easy drain Valves. Will see how it works out.

how's the quality of this? i've heard mixed reviews saying the valves are made cheaply and snap at install.

does it drain pretty fast?
I was quite pleased with the quality of the valve. I mean, it's a $25 valve but it seemed quite good for that price. I was pleased to see "made in Japan" which now means something altogether different from when we'd read this stamped on something in the 1960's.

Not going to drain as fast as the open hole but if the oil is warm it's not materially slower, like you're not sitting there watching it dribble. Besides, if you have a 3.5L, you have time to get ready to go to war to get that #$%^&* oil filter out.

I have Fumoto valves on all our vehicles that get regular/frequent oil changes. Here is the one I put on my Rattler. I don't worry much about it being damaged off-road as it's behind a Raptor skid plate. I also bought the hose kit so I can stick the hose right in the container. Easy and clean.

I tried the Valvomax on another vehicle and ended up taking it off. If you lose the screw on drain part you're screwed. It can also leak when you're trying to screw it on, especially if clearance is tight behind a skid plate.

Have been using the standard fumoto valves for well over a decade on various vehicles.

Just installed one with the longer port early last month on the F150. Went with some cheap clear 1/2 x 3/8 tubing from Home Depot to make it less messy going forward.

No I have not installed it yet as I am still waiting for my 2022. Blend date is today actually (8/30).

From everything I have read the 2022's got away from the plastic drain plug so they are metal again.

With that said I did buy this and an extra "activator" with the extended hose. I am really impressed with this little device. If you watch some of the Youtube vids of this one thing I would say is to open the oil fill cover when you use this to allow air to get into the system. That will keep the oil draining at a better rate and not stop to allow the "glug glug" air to enter in through the drain tube.
have you installed this yet? how is it? leaks or not?

Thanks Handle. I might give it a try, hopefully I'll have the right size vacuum end.
Did this trick yesterday, absolutely works! My Rigid shop vac hose was loose over the oil fill tube, just grabbed an old sock, cut the end off, doubled it up, and slid it over the fill tube. Then with the vacuum on, put the hose over it and you’ll know immediately if you have a good seal or not, as the vacuum will sound like it’s clogged. Then just remove the plug. I’m ordering my Fumoto soon, and I’ll use this same truck to install it, instead of waiting until the next oil change.

No I have not. I only have about 2600 miles on it and 1100+ of that was driving it home from Granger. I do want to change it soon (October) because then I will probably need to do it once a year after that and I can have it on an Oct schedule.

I am so busy with work that I may ask a local oil change guy if he can do my first change and put this on. I kind of hate to ask the guy this.

Changed my oil on my 5.0 the other day, can confidently say I spilled no oil at the fumoto valve.

The oil filter however...
