Has anyone deleted this chrome piece on their plats? I'm trying to figure out if it's an easy to just buy the black version and replace it. I just wanted to double check with part number.

I think it's this one? There's also a primed version but I'm undecided if I'd like to get it painted to match.

From the looks of the part number and the price it's just black plastic. Do you have a picture of your truck? In my avatar is a picture of my previous truck with the black piece you want and my new truck with the chrome one. I prefer the black too. Just breaks up the chrome a bit.

The belt molding I'm looking to switch out from on my truck from black to chrome is over $800. I'd jump on that black piece at only $112!!!

Awful photo I dug up from before. But I was probably going to just plastidip the tow hooks or something as well since I really doubt I'll use them very often. It seems fairly cheap for the plastic if that really is the right piece.

This is where I found the blowup of it. Even cheaper here. Sure looks like the right part to me..
EDIT: Is that a Platinum in avalanche? What a great looking truck...

It is. I got rid of the chrome on the mirrors, door handles, and tailgate. Still debating about the front end if I want to swap to a gloss black lariat grill.
I, and I assume others, would love to see your chrome deletes thus far. I don't have the keenest eye for design but I know others do. My guess is the more people see your build the better the design suggestions you may get. I find this forum to be a wealth of knowledge. My $.02

Tape and drape around it. Put 1 hole can of plasti dip on it between 7 coats 15mnts apart for durability. You will have like $20 bucks in it And it will give you the fill of if you like the black. If you don’t like it you can pull it off.

I gotta pull the rear tailgate cover off and mess with the applique cause the thing isn't sealing evenly around the edges again. Or throw some adhesive on it or something but that's besides the point. Exhaust tip has been swapped out with the Ford performance black tip as well since these photos were taken.

I went ahead and ordered that bit. Whenever it gets here I'll find out how hard it is to install and then possibly pull hooks to either paint or powdercoat. Hooks will be getting a black, red or bronze treatment. I'm still undecided on that one though.

I'm interested in seeing how you make out with that.

So, the part came in but unfortunately my truck is stuck at the dealer over the weekend while they apply the stop safely now update.
Interestingly enough, they gave me an XLT powerboost loaner and the lower bumper section is clearly a different part because it's a smooth gray versus the textured (pebbled?) black plastic. I don't think I actually like the smoother grey so it's no harm to me, but it's interesting to see.
I've attached photos including the backside of the part so people can get an idea of how it gets on/off without crawling under there. Releasing the clips is probably going to be annoying, but doable. (Hopefully the air dam isn't in the way)

I'll be the first to admit, even with the part on hand, I have no clue how to get the current piece off. Not without major disassembly at any point. The air dam is quite in the way.

Dude, good luck:

Air Dam Removal Thread

It's not difficult, per se, but also not very fun.
