Ford uploads (not updates) over WiFi?

This is a new one to me.
Truck has uploaded 2GB in the last week.
Then I get an OTA trigger for 6.8.0 today.

I've seen it occasionally send small bits of data which I assume is updating asbuilt in the cloud. Never seen it upload so much data.

What the hell is my truck sending Ford? ?
I have 99% of the connectivity stuff turned off and haven't changed any settings recently.

i stopped looking at the data it sends or receives
just happy when it gets the updates and says SURPRISE i just re-arranged your screen for you
we have learned, even with the ATT modem not subscribed, there is a back door that it uploads to the mother ship
we are told its analytics??? but who knows .. i hope its not listening to my colorful language when stuck in traffic surrounded by bozoozooos
our phones are worse

That's interesting - I've only ever recorded 200Mb total traffic between 2 sync vehicles for the last year.

Tesla uploads their camera FSD feeds via owners wifi.

Are you sure it's the truck that is uploading? If you have DHCP something else may have grabbed the IP on your network.

Usually it's only a few megabytes not gigabytes in a week. Quite strange.

It uploads the module data from your truck to update the as built data on the server side

I notice spikes in upload traffic a day or two after making forscan changes

I have been seeing "F-150 Saved" frequently but truck usually uploads maybe 200 MB when it does upload over WiFi.

I stopped worrying what my phone, tv, computer, and now truck is listening to. I got Solider of Fortune magazine through the US Mail in the 80s and 90s so I’m on all the lists lol

I see this quite often. At times the Ford screen graphic is frozen when I drive for a minute, then it goes black, then the Ford screen reappears with its animation working. Then the screen notifies me that my profile has been saved. Weird.

That's pretty much the default agreement. It'd be different if it was tiktok's.

Tiktok's on the other hand is basically a keystroke recorder + password snatcher.

Nothing in that agreement explains a 2GB upload from the truck.

I'll keep monitoring and see if it's a one time event. So far owning truck since April it has never uploaded more than about 200MB and that is rare.

Also, never once has it downloaded anything more than a few MB over WiFi. Definitely not using it for updates but the community knows that.

cracks my wife up, but for some reason the grandchild had no idea

Where do you see this upload data? Router or somewhere in the truck?
