Funny thing is you don't really hear about this kind of thing from other car makers. Even Tesla who is known for having absolutely horrible assembly tolerances and build quality.I'm guessing it's a robot operating tolerance that got out compliance and wasn't discovered until some sequence of trucks had gotten past.
There's an F150 coming off the assembly line every 40-something seconds. A problem like this undiscovered for even 1 shift could affect several 100 trucks.
The interesting part about the article is that they indicate they've been filming certain processes of the production (should be every part of it IMO -- that's good data to have, but requires substantial storage). They then used an Ai script to go over the footage to identify what vehicles had the incorrect sealant placement. Something that should have been done for a while now. Can't really fault them on actually progressing on technology though.I'm guessing it's a robot operating tolerance that got out compliance and wasn't discovered until some sequence of trucks had gotten past.

Tesla's build quality improves as each model matures. The cybertruck had to start back at day 1 unfortunately while all other models have good tolerance / panel gaps these days. Some of the CT stuff looks like they were drunk assembling it.Funny thing is you don't really hear about this kind of thing from other car makers. Search Chicago explorer assembly line video...omg. I wish I could work an 8hr shift and not loose weightA few months back my neighbor just got a brand new Model 3 and you would have sworn it was built on a Friday a 4:55 PM after a long liquid lunch was provided for the assembly workers.
No kidding, my 21 F-250 had the same recall. I traded it in before the recall was performed, though. This crap again? Man you think by now Ford would have figured out how to install a windshield...
