I've done it three times and never had issues getting my check. With that said my last vehicle was a year old and 22k miles when traded and they gave me back half what I paid which I thought was pathetic

Refund calculation for ESP contract in effect more than 30 days:

((Purchase Price Paid / Plan total miles) x miles remaining) - $75 cancellation fee = refund

OR

((Purchase Price Paid / Plan total months) x months remaining) - $75 cancellation fee = refund

Whichever yields the lowest refund.

IOW, it's a straight pro-rata calculation based on what you used most (miles or months) minus the cancellation fee.

Claims made / paid has no effect on the refund.

All of this is in the Cancellation and Refund clause of your ESP contract (Article 12 in mine).

Mostly a matter of thinking where to look for answers, not depth of knowledge. In this case I just figured it logical that anything relating to ESP cancellation would be addressed in the ESP contract, so looked there.

On the one hand, my comment was specific to this thread. On the other hand, it was equally a generalized statement. You are awesome at your knowledge base and your willingness to research for others!

Just so you know at least in NY if you still have a loan the money goes to the lender not in your pocket.

I had two Ford ESP warranties. That I used to entice the buyer. In both cases, it cost me $75 to transfer the warranty to the new buyer. I also had an extended maintenance contract that I did get a refund from the dealership for the remaining portion that wasn’t used.
