I need a little help here... Looking at a Lariat locally. Has everything I need but no Co Pilot prep or park assist. I noticed it had no sensors on the front bumper. Is this a big deal to not have this option? Would I be short changing myself at this point? Not really sure if I would be sorry later for not having it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on whether you want adaptive cruise control with lane assist and full hands free driving when it comes out this summer. Both were must haves for me - road trips are a million times easier. My guess is that hands free will be good good for resale too.

Thanks,
That was my fear, that I wouldn't have the adaptive cruise control with lane assist and other options that would bug me later. Can anyone confirm this?

the real question is do you want the ability for your truck to have this feature? Is this why you are buying the vehicle for? Do you want the truck to have the ability to basically operate your truck with you Hands on the wheel? I’m a tech guy so to me , I want that. Is it worth the extra costs if you are just wanting a nice vehicle to drive, only you can answer that. Also just FYI, there is another cost to that feature. To get the prep to work you have to purchase the upgrade and then a monthly or yearly fee to actually use it.

I was disappointed when I found out my truck (bought off the lot) didn’t have the front sensors. But I’ve found that if I get into a tough parking situation, I just hit the 360 camera button and use it to avoid hitting anything. I don’t parallel park my truck, so the parking assist isn’t something I miss. As for the hands free driving, I’m fine with the current adaptive cruise control I have now. I barely have to touch the wheel to avoid getting a warning to put my hands back on. Not sure that I’d even want a vehicle where I’m not touching the wheel at all, but to each his own.

I got the prep package (but only by accident, the 502A on the lot just happened to have it). I think it’s strange that a Lariat without prep doesn’t have front sensors, but having said that, I don’t actually use them. The 360 camera is all you really need. Plus the adaptive cruise control and lane keeping works without the prep package. I also never use the parking assist, so unless the hands free driving turns out to be useful, I won’t actually use anything from the package on a regular basis.

Should have sensors on front if it has the 502a package no?

Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0:1 Intelligent Adaptive Cruise
Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering and Speed Sign Recognition; Evasive Steering Assist; Intersection Assist; and Connected Built-In Navigation2 (includes Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers and Forward Sensing System)

the prep just adds Ford Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0 Prep Package:1,3 Active Drive AssistTM Prep Kit3 and Active Park AssistTM 2.0

King Ranch doesn’t even have front parking sensors unless it has the prep package which was an over sight on my part. Don’t want the self driving but did want the parking sensors especially for the wife.

Same boat here. I didn’t order the active prep on my Lariat. Two days ago I found out the parking sensors aren’t included. Going to my dealer tomorrow in hopes that I can still add it. Ordered on January 15th. I don’t show a build date so I’m hoping they can add it. Probably too late.

I’m kinda pissed that the front parking sensors aren’t included in the 502a package. Oversight by Ford for sure.

I ordered a Lariat and added the Co-Pilot 360 Active 2.0 Prep Package but I want to remind those that are considering this, it is optional on the Lariat, KR, Platinum and included on the Limited. Also, we will have to pay Ford an additional $600 for the software to use it and 3 years of service.

Here is a link to the thread on this forum about it:

I just ordered a lariat 502a. No active prep. It says on my order three times that forward sensing is included.

Im not holding my breath but I’m gonna make a stink with Ford when it comes with no front sensors

I have my Lariat 502a already (not a special order) and it has the sensors, etc., etc., and the window sticker had the "prep" upgrade $995, and a bullet point under that says "parking assist" which may just be a sorfware thing at that point. I don't know if the 502a standard comes with the sensors so you have the proximity beeps to help you park old school, but at $70k one should think so...

I wanted it but bought a 502A on a lot without it. I don't mind not having front sensors. The 360 camera does a great job at showing where you are, and you can activate it when pulling into a spot with a button on the dash. I wanted hands free driving too, but we ultimately won't be using it for more than a couple of long distance trips a year, so I was ok not having it.

Well I bit the bullet and bought the truck! No prep... Definitely doesn't have front sensors but like Pat said above, 360 cam does a fine job. This truck had all the options I was looking for except a few items. With the months and months of waiting I read on here daily, I consider myself lucky. I had to drive clear across the state to get it but it was worth it. Thanks for all the input! Now for the upgrades!
