Funny thing is my Dad has had 3 F150's and now has a '24 Expedition Max, and he really misses the shifter. I want the dial. I wish we could swap directly!

Do you think this model will work also:
LL1P-7P155-AC 269281
Probably, but the only way to know for sure is to try.

I know everyone is excited for the expedition shifter, but @OleMustyBag is the only person to install one so far, so we dont know how all the different part numbers will work.

@OleMustyBag can you please confirm the exact part number you used?

The one I have at my house I haven't been able to plug in and test yet because it came in right before I had to leave on a business trip.

But I wanted to slap a vote in here for a vertical phone dock/Qi charging hole option, either in front of the shifter, or behind it, rather than another cupholder.
You mean like the one we showed off in post #83?

Quick question too - if I was considering doing the lighted cupholder mod, is the amount of disassembly much more than what would have to be done for the shifter? I.e. best to wait and do both at the same time? Or really not much time savings?
Do them both at the same time.

Yes. The only way to avoid it would be to swap the entire expedition console, but then you would hvae duplicate drive mode and 4x4 selector switches that wouldn't work.
hold up...will the expedition one swap over?
Also, wonder if you can use this...
Ford F-150 Folding Shifter Delete & Rotary Knob Swap exped consol

obviously ignore the switch in pic and use the correct one...but its got a cubby between that and the parking brake. the cool thing would be to maybe 3d print something to fill in where the parking brake button goes or a blank...

Obviously no one has documented trying it yet. But I own an F150 and I'm driving a rental expedition this week, it looks like it should swap over.

The one you have a picture of there looks like the console that goes with the big 15" vertical screen. I'd look for one to go with the 12" screen.

I should talk to my Dad, he would prefer the shifter and I the knob, maybe he will let me swap with his brand new Expedition (doubt it but maybe!).

At the very least maybe he will at least let you disassemble and compare parts for the swap. Does he have the 15" APIM screen or the 12"?

So that explains how you are testing out new designs lol!
Just test the whole swap before you send it back lol!

Unfortunately me and my rental are 1,924 miles from my truck.

I am 3D printing over the web and my 15 year old daughter is test fitting the expedition shifter into the 3D print, and sending me feedback on how it fit. It's a bit of a slow process as she checks it when she gets home from school, and I have time to print 1 revision before she goes to bed, so we only get 2 revs per day.

Dumb question, but does anyone have a link to what trim needs to pulled to remove/replace the shifter? And also some proper trim removal tools to do the job? I have lots of tools, the one thing I am lacking are good trim removal tools. Rather not jab in there with screwdrivers and such and mar the plastics.

For trim tools you would only need one plastic non marring pry tool. A windshield trim tool would even work. Other than that you only need a 7mm, and 10mm. The rest is all just plugging and unplugging of harnesses.

Unfortunately hes a couple hours drive away. He has the 15" screen too, now that I think about it.

i wish i had disposable money or i'd just buy stuff and try it out. i doubt any junkyards have anything this new lying around either.

I applaud you for taking on this project. id also like to do it but would love something like what olemusty did design wise or where the shifter was up front towards the dash and a simple cubby would be sweet.

My wife has the 15" in her expedition but i am not sure there is a difference between the 12" and 15" expeditions center console. The only difference i see is the 15" has a door that covers the cup holders. (2024 anyway) Looks like you would have to swap the shifter and the top bezel.
