Out of curiosity and for conversation sake: would this void warranty? Has anyone gotten their truck serviced and dealer point this mod out?
While dealerships are shady and i could see one trying to deny service by blaming this, it would never hold up if challeneged in court.

Out of curiosity and for conversation sake: would this void warranty? Has anyone gotten their truck serviced and dealer point this mod out?
Someone posted on the Lightning forum after they did this mod. They had to bring the truck in for repair of an unrelated issue. He said the dealer never said anything, and the dealership had to drive the truck to move it and take it for a test drive as part of the repair. It looks OEM and it's a Ford part that is in use in many other Fords. I would guess that most dealerships wouldn't notice.

Great points! This Mod definitely makes the work surface more useful… unlike the BlueCruise sensors and Park Assist in the Raptors that does NOTHING ??

I would think that the "foreign" dial shifter would not be covered under the trucks warranty, but everything else would be.

If you buy a new Expo shifter that should come with its own warranty.

Like any other mod you do to your truck, they would need to prove/show how this and any other mod caused the malfunction that they are trying not to warranty.

anyone know if the lightning trucks also have tron like the 24-25 trucks? Or maybe the lightning guys that are doing it only have 2023 models?

anyone know if the lightning trucks also have tron like the 24-25 trucks? Or maybe the lightning guys that are doing it only have 2023 models?

through 2024 the lightnings have no TRON. We haven't gotten our hands on a 2025 to confirm yet. We thought we could tell if a vheicle had TRON just by looking it up in FDRS, but lately even non-TRON vehicles (like my 2021 Mach E) show the TRON Configuration Utility in the toolbox. To my knowledge the only real way to tell is to connect to the vehicle directly with FDRS or a Comma3x. When connected with to the vehicle with FDRS we can query the TRON keys to see if they exist. With a Comma3X we can look at the canbus messages and see if they are 8 bit or 16 bit (TRON are 16 bit).

Ok thanks for the info! Was just looking into whether or not a 2025 expedition rotary knob existed. Seems it might be a different style now, that could render it harder to mod for this? My assumption would be that any 2025 model would probably have tron, but I know thats not a given, would actually have to try it and find out.

I did see a post that there is a procedure using FDRS to re-issue the secret keys for the tron, if it throws codes, but you still have to have a tron capable shifter.

Correct, currently we don't know where to find a TRON shifter. I know 2025 Maverick has TRON and a rotatry shifter, but I dont think it has the + / - buttons, so you would lose the ability to manually shift gears. The 2025 Expedition most likely has TRON, but the shifter is on the dash and horizontal, not vertical like the ones in the console, so you would have to competely redesign the whole console and rearrange the cupholders to mount it in an F150. it's doable with a large 3D printer, but way more work than the current swap.

Ya and since I tow I need the ability to lock out gears .

Cut the tabs, my son printed the files from @Ajzride and I installed the rotary shifter from eBay Canada off a 2021 Expedition onto MY23 XLT PB. Its fully functional including Manual shifting, +/-, and auto into P when opening driver door. But of course, the best feature is the ability to drive with my work surface down. I don't miss the grumble, rumble, grrrrrroooooww either and certainly don't worry about a shifter lockup disabling my truck.

I do need to redo the lid a bit for better magnetic fit and finish. I shoved the matt from the old shifter in the new available area. Does anybody have the files for printing a new matt for the new storage area?
EDIT, my son printed me one with his modification. I love it.

Absolutely not. ASA or ABS. Polymaker just released a high temp PLA that seems to be suitable based on reviews but I’ve not tested it myself.
