I use Pennzoil Platinum, not Ultra. I use the Wix XP filters (XP are for synthetics). First change was at 300, then 1,000, and on the 5's there after. My latest Blackstone at 30k looks great. Wear metals are low compared to universal averages for the Ford 5.0L, and the other properties are well below in expected values.

If you want to do a deep dive into oil and lubrication, check out Lake Speed, Jr (the Oil Geek Guy) on YouTube. He is a Tribologist and Certified Lubrication Specialist, and has formulated many oils for the major brands, and his break in formulation is used by prominent engine manufacturers (not engine builders). His resume is exhaustive.
Here is his analysis of
Pennnzoil Platinum vs Ultra

And for a video on Oil Change Intervals, Dave's Auto Center (Monster Engines.com) had Lake out for an onsite visit. The knowledge and experience these guys have about engines is staggering. Well worth the 30 minute view. And for all those that preach 10k intervals, this should change your mind.
The truth about oil change intervals and analysis

The simple fact is that most oil companies buy the same base oil, and they add ... additives, to combat wear and deposits. Changing your oil frequently, <5k for normally aspirated, should be sufficient maintenance for your engine. Many would say frequency is more important than brand name. Adding additives will dilute the oil's formula and found to be detrimental.
If You LOVE One Of These Additives, DON'T Watch This Video!

Good luck!

Quaker State full synthetic 5w-30. I decided to switch to QSFS after chatting with @Snakebitten and reading the Rat540 Blog but as stated by some of the folks, at 5000 miles oil change interval you could really use any full synthetic motor oil. Good luck!

(Edit: I was typing while my forum colleague @Shane150 posted. So there's a bit of an Echo below. Lol)

I'm not getting sucked into an oil thread. How about you @Snakebitten ? Any SP rated oil will be fine. Some are better than others.
But I love oil threads! ?

As long as the banter stays respectful. It's so strange when it gets out of bounds.

Having said that, one of my favorite 3.5 Ecoboost oils is NOT SP rated, I don't think. Or at least Amsoil doesn't always fork over the ransom to get the certification, from what I understand?

I love the SS 0W-40 for this engine.
And it was recommended to me several years ago by someone I believe knows a lot about this engine specifically.
But even stating that, I have been using Quaker State Full Synthetic (QSFS) 5-30 since I acquired this 2022 KingRanch Powerboost. (I went down the anti-wear 540Ratblog rabbit hole. ??)

The stuff is inexpensive.
Meets the Spec.
And the truck is amazingly quiet, for a 3.5 Ecoboost, although the Amsoil 0-40 might have been quieter?

No matter how much I enjoy the debate though, I personally believe that I have now lived long enough that almost all modern oils are more than capable of protecting this motor using the oil change interval that I and many others do. And although some of them might be SUPER oils that could suffice for much longer oc intervals than I do, I'm never going to purchase oil for that purpose. I get zero enjoyment out of stretching my oil dollar. ?

Quite the opposite. I love to drain and fill. Always have. Probably has its roots in motorcycles.
