'23 PB with less than 20K. Getting ready for >2000-mile trip and got an 'engine light' the other day. Took it to the Ford dealer yesterday and after a long day they finally told me the Cat Converter had failed or was broken and said they requested a replacement, but it would take over a week to get. Service manager said it shouldn't be a problem since I couldn't break a part that was already broken.

Question, are Catalytic Converter failures common, especially with such a new vehicle? And I presume I can expect some minor decreased performance for the trip. Cheers, ALL
You aren’t alone. I have the same issue, but my engine light shuts off after a few trips too, then can come back for a couple of trips.

Performance, fuel economy, etc. are unaffected. Truck drives great.

On a trip right now with 1350 miles behind me, Engine Light was 'off' when I left dealer....seems to be working great so far.....Cheers

I’m on my second left hand cat right now - just had it replaced two weeks ago at 11,000km. I took a look at it after it came off and there was no obvious elements broken inside.

I’m going to guess that the failures, CEL’s are due to the constant, stop, start and limited temperature that these CAT’s get up to since it keeps going into hybrid mode. I had the CEL on for days, then off for a day, for a month waiting for a new one to come in. In that time I towed up the mountains here in BC in tow haul mode. After having the engine under load for hours there was no longer a CEL for the last couple of weeks leading up to my appointment. <- Towing up the mountain basically did the CAT desulfate procedure documented by Ford. Luckily I got to do that because I sure don’t want the dealership driving the truck in 5th gear at highway speed for an hour in the city.

Thanks for the info...as for now I have not noticed any appreciable difference in performance, but will have it replaced when a new one comes in.

I had the CEL come on in my truck a few months back. Took it in to the dealer. The catalytic converter was the problem. Dealer desulfered the converter. Haven't had any more issues to date. Dealer did say if I had a problem with the converter in the future, they would replace the converter.

Does this imply that most cat failures have been on powerboosts? Now I'm wondering if people with 5.0 and EB have had any cat failures.
